Aww, that's totally cool.

I've paid for the car behind me in a drive thru, before, but haven't thought to do that in a restaurant yet.

That was sweet of that family, and since they did it so descretely, paying it forward would be one way to say thank you to them. Although, it would be completely awesome if someone on this forum knew who you were talking about and let them know how appreciative you are, also!
