The ****able necktie is on the way out! The national trade association formed to promote the necktie has given up the ghost--they have disbanded! The article in the link reports that "...the number of men who wore ties every day to work last year dropped to a record low of 6%, down from 10% in 2002." HOO-RAY for common sense! For far too long, in the interest of "style," men have sucumbed to wearing this torture device. Now it seems that ties are dead meat!
And HOW can you explain the huge cost increase of ties over the last 6 or 8 years? $30.00, $50.00, even $80.00 for one steenking tie! Ree-dic-u-lous!! I never pay more than $2 for any tie, since plenty of good ties are available for from $1 to $2 at thrift stores. My fond hope now is that with the accelerating decline in wearing of ties, the day might come when I can throw all of my ties into the fire!
