U.S. President Joe Biden’s notorious memory problems have predictably emerged during this weekend’s G7 summit meetings in England.
During one such roundtable meeting Sunday, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, 56, was forced to correct Biden, 78, after the president experienced a memory lapse.
A video clip from the meeting shows Biden cutting off Johnson as the U.K. prime minister is finishing introducing the meetings participants.
“And the president of South Africa!” Biden confidently declares with his finger pointed in an assertive manner.
His point was that Johnson had forgotten to introduce South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
“And the president of South Africa … as I said early on,” Johnson responds.
“Oh, you did?” Biden asks in confusion.
“I certainly did,” the U.K. prime minister replies as the room bursts into laughter.
Johnson then uses his arm to effectively “shush” the U.S. president.
The humiliating spectacle — one of several that have occurred during the G7 summit — provoked another round of critics claiming that Biden suffers from dementia.
This has become a frequent refrain in the age of Joe Biden, though to be clear, there is no formal (i.e., “fact-checker” approved) evidence to substantiate this theory.
During another humiliating incident Saturday, the president got distracted — or “lost,” as some put it — by a question from a bystander as he and first lady Jill Biden tried walking away from a seated gathering at the G7.
“How are your meetings going in Cornwall, Mr. President?” the bystander asked.
The president stopped walking, turned toward the bystander and asked, “I beg your pardon?”
After the bystander repeated the question, the president replied, “Very well.”
Just as he finished replying, the first lady could be seen rushing to the rescue.
“Come on!” she exclaimed as she swiftly grabbed his hand and began dragging him away from the bystander like a mother dragging her child away from the candy store — and all as the crowd of people around them burst into laughter.
And then during yet another incident last Wednesday, the president grew distracted as the first lady delivered a speech to troops stationed at the Royal Air Force Mildenhall in Britain.
In response, the first lady turned around and shouted, “Pay attention, Joe!”
And once again the crowd burst into laughter.
