Consideration of what it is believed that certain historical figures actually looked like.  Some of the photos were quite interesting.   I had seen a program on television about what Jesus Christ most likely looked like and the rendition that was presented on this site was very much like the television program said.  What was interesting was exactly how different it was/is from what is so often presented as Christ.  I don't know that anyone really has any idea how accurate these renderings are/were because there is no one that knew them alive but it still is interesting and puts a human face on many of history's figures.

I thought they needed the skull of the person for reconstruction of

the face/head ?

From what I read in one case they used the death mask to create one image and another they used photographs and 3D computers, from what I read.  I too thought that a skull was needed.  One of the most interesting was Jesus Christ and at first I thought how is that possible but then I remembered that according to those, in the know, the Shroud of Turin was an embedded 3D image and that is what they used to estimate what Christ looked like.  They used the image embedded into the Shroud of Turin.

Compare that to the long haired white guy that has been used as the model from the early American history days.  I should also mention, another curious thing and that is that the exact same model used to come up with he most recognized image of Christ was also used to image Judas, or that's what I had heard.
