I remember learning, like interventor says, about the Doomsday book and about last names for taxation.

In the Bible, I did always get bored reading Numbers and reading the bagats, begats & begats. So and so begat so and so... But I thought it was cool that there were 14 generations between Abraham to David, 14 between David and away of Babylon and 14 generations to Christ. Nerdy, but cool.
