Wanting to see if Others are receiving Odd phone calls. Here’s a good one, we’ve gotten 3 times over the past couple of weeks.
Scammer Story Line:
Goes something like this:
When you answer the phone, there will be a pause after you say “Hello”, pause “Hello”. Much like a Robo Call. Then someone comes on and says,
Scammer: Hello Grandma/Grandpa
You: Hello, how are you….
Scammer: Not to Good, I’m not feeling good at all….I just lost a good friend
You: Bxxxx is that You?
Scammer: Yes, This is your Grandson!
You: You don’t sound like Bxxxx.,
Scammer: It’s because I don’t feel good and my throat is sore & I’m a bit hoarse.
You: What!!! Which Grandson is this? (a few seconds of Silence) until scammer give you the name you first mentioned in the call earlier.(Bxxxx). In one case he gave me the Name of Michael , since I did not give scammer a name of my grandson.
You: plus Bxxxx is too young to sound as old as You talking to me. So which Grandson are you!!
Scammer: Michael !!!
You: I don’t have a grandson named Michael…!!! Who did you Call??
Scammer: You Grandma,
You: You ought to be ashamed of calling up people claiming to be someone’s grandson
Scammer: Oh, I’m Sorry
You: You ought to be Sorry… You Scammer…
Scammer: CLICK
The wife got another one this morning, she just hung up as soon as she heard: This is your grandson..
I think the next time the Scammer calls, I’m thinking of playing along with him for as long as possible to see what his true motives are.
I have a sneaky suspicion its…..MONEY!!! Anyone else had similar calls? Or Have you played them on. How have you dealt with them.
