Reply to "Russian Submarine"

Oh my... The armchair cold warriors are out again... It must be election time... One must wonder how many of those posting comments served in the military? And how many have any background in international  relations, history, or doctrine?

First I saw no mention in the single, undocumented, report that the sub entered U. S. territorial waters. The artical did state that it had entered our "strategic" waters. Strategic and territorial waters are two entirely different scopes. Further, the report, which cites no source, but blatantly states that the sub went undetected... Now that presents a problem... If it went undetected, how did the "reporter" find out. Do the posters really think that if the intrusion were detected, the authorities would call a press conference to report the event? To do so would be a gross dereliction of duty... We do NOT disclose to potential foes our security apparatus!

Second, if the report is true - a big stretch - it is really not an unusual event. Both U. S. and Russian submarines routinely probe the missile and anti-submarine defenses of the other. I'd suggest that the Chinese are involved in these same activities.

Third, it is obvious that the report was aimed at discrediting the President. One must wonder where these protestors were when this great nation was led into two undeclared, unfunded, and unnecessary wars, one of which we are still bogged down in and where American men and women are dieing to this day - the longest war in our history. Russia's war in Afghanistan led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. Our war in Afghanistan has resulted in a greatly diminished military capability and a demoralized military force. Obama's biggest fault has been not to get out sooner. No good can come from these wars which are draining our budget.

Sad!
