All servers make at least the minimum wage. It's posted in almost every place of employment: if the tip average doesn't equal minimum wage, the employer is required to supply the difference. Obviously, no one is shouting about how wonderful the minimum wage is, but servers aren't the oppressed underbelly of the working world, either.
