I don't now that I agree with all of these. Having an opinion about what's happening in your community? What about "Wanting a say in what happens in this country qualifies you to be a voter". I'd think Putin would then qualify to be a voter because I'm sure he would like to have a say in what happens in the US. At least, to her credit, she did begin with "being a citizen", but she should have stopped there.
Thankfully not all 18-year-olds know more than "nothing about nothing" but the most importing thing seems to be to have an opinion about something. Although it's. not required to vote it would be nice if there was at least some basic knowledge about our Government and how it works.
I also loved the line about "when we don't vote" we end up with those elected by "other people". Never mind that the will of those that vote is achieved, that doesn't count. There is but only one outcome, in her mind (and I'm sure of many others) that is fair and right and that is the outcome where a Democrat is elected, where a liberal is elected.
