If all the employees disappeared, as in a strike, don't you think it would show him who is making his money for him? Shouldn't workers have a say in how the pie they baked for him is divided?

Those who oppose unions are making it easier to keep workers in poverty. That is the reason they were asking for community support. Workers support those businesses by spending their paychecks in those establishments. Higher union wages mean higher amounts spent in those stores. And the store owners are afraid some anti-union bigot will cause a stink?
