The main thing to remember is that the University of Alabama Football Team is playing in the National Championship Game in Miami. Everything else is subordinate to that fact. Those of you who have petty complaints about: sub-par roads/inadequate bridge maintenance/rampant roadside litter/underpaid teachers/overcrowded jails and prisons/court budget crunches/understaffed Dept. of Human Resources/ overworked DHR case-workers/under-equipped public safety agencies/laid-off classroom teachers due to budget cuts/cuts in medical staffing and patient services/cuts in school nutrition programs/increases in post-secondary tuition/cuts and/or elimination of after-school programs/down-sizing of state forensic services/freezing of promotion and new hiring in some law enforcement departments/budget cuts to state parks/...well...you folks just don't have your priorities ranked properly. Best get with the program!
What does the Alabama football program have to do with any of that you mentioned?
Best I think the poster was attempting to say that our priorities are all screwed up because we like football down here. Since major college athletics are funded almost exclusively by private donations/ticket sales TV revenue etc. the post misses the mark. Similar to another post blaming "anti government no tax people" who apparently believes that if one opposes wasteful spending then one is automatically against all government spending. Both posts make attempts at sarcasm both fail.
