Bill everyone knows the teachings of Jesus from which our morals spring.
We must be naughty at times and Jesus’ teachings take part of the thrill away.
It doesn’t matter if he is the Son of God or not; his teachings are in the way.
No matter how hard one denies God that nagging presence of Jesus’ teachings is always there.
Denying God is like the analogy of walking a mile down the road and stopping halfway then walking halfway of the remaining distance to the mile marker each time. The atheist candidate never becomes free of the belief in God no matter how hard they try. The atheist candidate is going to die like rover and be dead all over after a lifetime of feuding with themselves over this fragment of uncertainty.
