One conservative blog has the motto, "In every liberal, there's a tyrant shouting to be released."  However, its not that simple -- some desire to emulate the old Marquis, a few prefer von Sacher-Masoch.

Good Lord! hahahahaha You have a very rich imagination there Dire. I had no idea that I have been trying to emulate "the Old Marquis" or "Von Sacher-Masoch"

The crazy rantings I see some of you make on here about the evil "progressives" can sometimes make me laugh. Other times I get a little sick in my stomach that you all have labeled many of us as these evil people that are trying to take over YOUR country. We have seen this kind of mentality before. It didn't turn out to good for the progressives... I hope you all can stop trying to dehumanize those that disagree with you politically and try and find a way to work together, find some common ground, and compromise.

I would have loved to have sent my children to a private school. Not because I think I am better than anyone else, or that no one else deserved to send their children to a private school. I think many offer a better education based mostly on class size and the caliber of teachers that private schools can attract with the better pay they offer.

I also know that there are many public schools that offer quality educations.

The most important thing to your child's education is your involvement.

One only has to read what progressives advocate to determine there is a strong vein of supremacist belief within their ranks.  There is little brooking of alternatives to whatever is the line of the day.  I really like it when they quote "Let a thousand flowers bloom."  After which, Mao cut down all that didn't agree with him.  As to the Masoch statement, that's a personal observation of some of the progressives.

The US has the best universities in the world.  However, we now spend more than the Swiss to educate at the grammar and secondary level, without their results.  The university system had competition -- private colleges, state colleges and a few hybrids.  A voucher system can produce that same competition -- I'd throw in a small voucher system for homeschooled kids to purchase books and supplies.
