The regular season is now over with Alabama's blowout of Auburn in the 2018 series of the Iron Bowl.  Alabama has become one of only two teams (the other from around the 1880's) that has won all their regular season games by in excess of 20 points over their opponents.  Depending on the next two or three games that Alabama may be playing there will come a host of questions, none of which Nick Saban wants to entertain, at least at this time.

Questions such as is Nick Saban and this Alabama football team, as a team, the GOAT team and GOAT coach?  Greatest Of All Time is a term that's being thrown around regarding this year's overall team and given their performance it's easy to see why.  Nick Saban with all the assistant coaching changes can also be considered as the Greatest Of All Time head football coach and has easily put himself in every conversation regarding Paul "Bear" Bryant.  Thankfully for Alabama, both of these great coaches were and are Alabama coaches.

As far as Defense goes this year's team has improved but I believe that the GOAT defensive squad, for the Crimson Tide has to be either the 2011 team that shut down LSU in the National Championship game or the 2016 team that lost the National Championship to Clemson.  None of this discounts the many great defensive teams that Paul "Bear" Bryant fielded nor the 1992 squad that Gene Stallings had.  Overall though this years team, as a whole, along with an unequaled offense could very well be considered the best overall team that Alabama has fielded ever.  This year also is, as of this weekend, certain to bring to Alabama their third Heisman Award winner and first Quarterback Heisman Award Winner for I don't know if there is any potential Heisman candidate that even comes close to Tua.

Alabama has had a perfect regular season this year and based upon that and the margin of their wins even if they do lose to Georgia in the SEC Championship game there is a very good chance that they will still be considered as one of the top four teams in the nation and may yet get a shot at yet another National Championship.
