Just to let you know this morning around 9:00 I ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel.

This family was sitting across from me a man , his wife their 2 kids and another lady. The man got up from the table and went out of sight and came right back. He didn't go far for a few seconds.

They finished up their breakfast and left. Within 5 minutes after they had left , my waitress came over to me and said that family that were sitting there PAID for my breakfast. I could not believe they had done that.

I would like to thank them if it's somebody reading or on this forum. I wish they had not done that. I like to pay my own bill.

If the family is reading this or anybody mentions to you the good deed they had done please thank them for me , I really appreciate it.

You hit it right on the nose Freebird. I plan to do the very same thing you suggested.

I feel Blessed when people do that , really I wish they would help people that need help worse than I do.

If that happens again , I may have to wear a tuxedo so they will give it a second thought. LOL !!!!!!!!!!!

Psssst.......... I haven't got one of them either. Cool
If you would like to know what it feels like to do such a random unsolicited act of kindness, then meet me at the Cracker Barrel and I will sit near you when you eat and you can surreptitiously pay for my mammoth country boy breakfast with 3 meats and half a dozen eggs and a nice stack of blueberry pancakes--with coffee and orange juice.
We let our kids pick which place to eat for their birthday every year and last year our daughter picked Red Lobster for her 6th birthday. She loves crab legs and eats them like a pro. The people at the other table were commenting on her nice table manners & how she reminded them of their daughter who was grown. We thanked them for their compliments. Generally on birthday dinners, we order larger (appetizers & desserts for everyone). When we finished, it was just over $100 when the waitress brought our bill and she said it was covered and pointed to the table where the couple had been sitting. I know what you mean, HoundDog. It made us feel uncomfortable in a way, but it was extremely nice of the couple. We did not tell them it was her birthday, that wasn't why they paid it. We looked for them by chance in the parking lot but they were gone. We're just gonna have to pay it forward some day.

beternU , my friend it would take 6 or 8 of you to eat that much breakfast. You don't even have a stomach big enough to hold more that a Hershel's breakfast. I know you can eat a smokehouse breakfast. LOL !!!!!!!!
THIS DOESNT COMPARE TO CRACKER BARRELL OR RED LOBSTER, BUT MY HUBBY WAS IN THE MICKEY D'S DRIVE THRU THE OTHER DAY & WHEN HE GOT TO THE WINDOW TO PAY, SHE TOLD HIM THAT THE DRIVER IN FRONT OF HIM HAD PAID FOR HIS. SO HE JUST PAID FOR THE GUY BEHIND HIM. I THOUGHT IT WAS KINDA NEAT. IN A TIME WHEN YOU THINK NO ONE CARES ABOUT ANY THING OTHER THAN THEMSELVES, THIS WAS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR.

That's a GREAT idea !!!!!!!!! I'd like to pull that one on somebody some day.

I had already planned to do something else though and still plan to stick with my plan. That is a good idea.

I have done that often, especially when my wife hands me a bigger allowance than what I am used to because all our bills was paid for the month. We will go thru the drive-thru and pay for the next persons too...its kinda hard when they have 2 windows where you pay and then pick up the food later because you have to stay in line and can't annoumously leave before they find out they get a free meal.

Try it sometimes when you have some extra money. You will smile for the rest of the day.
This is a bit off topic but similar so I want to share a story of mine. I was at the post office one day and saw an elderly gentleman going through the process of having to fill out extra paperwork, etc to send a package to his grandson in Iraq. Being a very patriotic daughter of a Vietnam Vet I just wanted to do something but I hesitated because I didn't want to offend his pride so I debated with myself for quite awhile. Something continued to nag at me and after the guy at the post office rang up his other parcels I put my hand on the package to his grandson and asked if I could please pay for the postage as a means of supporting our troops? He did seem as though this offended him for a moment but the postal worker assured him that this kind of thing happened often and he allowed me to pay for the package to be sent and spent quite a bit of time after I had paid talking to me about his grandson and also the time he spent serving our country. It's amazing what random acts of kindness can mean to someone, in this case, an "ole timer", as I'm sure he would dub himself, had restored faith in "today's youth" as I'm sure he would dub me though I'm quite a bit older than he would have probably thought me to be based on our conversation.

I've also paid for orders for people in the drive through especially on holidays. I've been in restaurants and have seen police officers, firemen or EMTs and paid for their meals occasionally. I'm not rich by any means, I'm a nurse. I have to work many holidays and many Sundays so sometimes I consider my acts of kindness as my tithes...I hope God counts that.
Aww, that's totally cool. Smiler

I've paid for the car behind me in a drive thru, before, but haven't thought to do that in a restaurant yet.

That was sweet of that family, and since they did it so descretely, paying it forward would be one way to say thank you to them. Although, it would be completely awesome if someone on this forum knew who you were talking about and let them know how appreciative you are, also! Big Grin
