A Laundry Question

I have a coat that I really need to wash. It is 50% wool and 50% rayon. Can I wash it on the gentle cycle and hang it up to dry? It says dry clean only, but sometimes that's a CYA suggestion. Any laundry pro's out there?

PS. If I could add a teensy bit of bleach, that would be great! (It's a white coat.)

i'd take it for dry-cleaning. even if it doesn't shrink..it's never gonna look right again. there's a dry-cleaner on avalon in muscle shoals that advertises 2.99 for any item. anybody got the scoop on that place?

Dang!! Oh, well, I guess I'll take it to the cleaners. I never should have gotten a white winter coat for my 15 year old daughter! I don't know what I was thinking. Thanks for the help.

Rayon is a synthetic fiber. It does not come from an animal. I believe the fiber source is mostly trees with a whole bunch of chemicals added.

Remember that fabric called ramie? Have you ever tried to wash it? Or dry it?
I did that with a sweater once and I promise when I got it out of the dryer it was the size of a preemie baby outfit.

(My granddaughter always has "outfits", never clothes, they are ALL "outfits".)
