if ever?
I have 3 wonderful children. Grown, now, and 2 Grandchildren.
Question is...when is abortion acceptable?
Yes, I have heard that a womans body is hers.
However, there are abortions that are the consequince of not using a safe birth control method.
If the Mothers life is in danger? OK
Abortion because of ignorance...as a birth control method...?
Debate?

I am vehemently against abortion except for rape, incest, and the health of the mother, which make up about 1% of all abortions. I also believe that it's the state's right to determine the legality of abortion. I come to these views through my faith. I can't, for the life of me, try to comprehend why people say things like "it's ok because it doesn't have a gender yet" or "it's not a fully developed human being until it's born".

Yet most pro-choice supporters are against the death penalty for convicted murderers. Wow, what a deranged thought process.

Yet, it has it's own unique DNA. Abortion is wrong on every level. Life begins at conception, and it's not the parents place to decide whether or not to keep that life. If people are responsible enough to have sex, they should be responsible enough to take care of a child.

Hey David,

If you could find out your child's sexual identity at say 4 weeks and someone aborted their child because he/she was gay you'd be okay with that? After all it isn't a person right?

Yes, that would be their right. Sadly, I would bet though that a lot of people who are most vocal against abortion would probably change their tune if they knew their kid would be gay.
Ronnie, I don't wish to argue with you on the subject. It is not something I feel passionately about one way or another. The original poster asked if we thought it was murder and I'm just giving my opinion.

I am more concerned about overpopulation. Why should someone bring an unwanted child into the world? And don't say that they will get adopted. People pay thousands of dollars today so they can get pregnant and have their own kids. I honestly do not understand it.

Over population, unwanted children. This is where the abortion thing, falls off the cliff. When LIFE is of little to no value, the killing begins. Hilter, didn't kill Jews at first. He killed the handicapped, sick elderly, for starters. While rounding up the undesirables like Gypsys, Slavs and Jews, he was having Gays sent to camps to be killed.

Every human life is to be valued. Valued at the highest level. Otherwise, none of us are of any value. And none of us are safe.

Murdering babies is definately one way to control overpopulation. Would you be ok with killing people with mental defects? How about killing people whose sexual orientation is different from the norm?

I had several ultrasounds due to complications during pregnancy with my son. At 12 weeks during the pregnancy I could see my baby’s arms and legs…at only 15 weeks into the pregnancy…not even four months we discovered that he was definitely a little boy… boy part visibly seen by the ultrasound. The gender is there early during the pregnancy.

Question:

What if I had preferred to have a baby girl...would it have been OK to abort my son even though he was perfectly healthy? I think not....

REALLY? so that egg and sperm combo that is yet to attach to the wall of the uterus has a soul? if the mother's body rejects it it goes to heaven even though it was yet to be developed into anything besides a mass of cells?

I'm not surprised at your response. I group you together with David in the not fully developed human being category.

thats a bold statement seeing as how you KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME. i'm not a TOOL, i'll make my own **** decisions, you can be like the rest of them, a simple small pathetic white sheep.
here's what gets me, who cares ya know? what does it matter what one person does if it doesn't affect YOU? so why argue ya know. it always goes to a heated battle, with no winner. believe what you believe in and be done with it. thats what i do. who's to say i'm wrong or anyone else is wrong? that's right, the man in charge, not you or me. peace!

You obviously never wanted to have children and could not have them? We spent thousands to have my child and it was the best money I ever spent.

What about late term abortions where the "fetus" is fully developed? The health of the mother is not a legitimate argument because the woman still goes thru the birth process after the 'fetus' is killed.

In the state of Alabama you can legally abort up to 22 weeks. My daughter was born at 25 weeks. Some babies are aborted in other states as late as 26 weeks. After having her, I cannot imagine anyone saying "this is not a baby"....a lot of babies born that early don't make it, but then so do some babies that are full term.

Someone said that the baby does not have a soul...well, a lot of those that abort their babies don't either, so let's just get rid of them as well. And I'm not talking about medical crises, etc. I'm talking about those that just don't want to be "inconvenienced" with a baby. And who knows at what stage a soul develops? I certainly don't.

This is true. You will not prevent a woman from having an abortion no matter how many laws you pass. I personally wouldn't like to see us go back to the way it was prior to 1973 when women were dying from unsafe abortions. Dying! It's worth it to you all for a pregnant woman - who clearly doesn't want the child - to die for it? That's what will happen if Roe v Wade is overturned (which will never happen, btw).

Parents are simply not having the right conversations with their children about how conception happens. I guess talking about abstinence and hoping that's what they choose is enough for some parents, which is completely unrealistic.

And up to a certain point, the fetus/baby isn't viable outside the host (mother's womb), so in that sense, no it's not exactly an independent, living person.

I'm so tired of the religious right screaming about abortion, but not considering what the baby will probably be facing once born. Let's see, a mother that clearly didn't want to be pregnant in the first place probably will not want to keep the baby; if she does, the child will probably be abused. The only other option is the foster care system, and we all know how well that works in this country. No abuse or neglect. Roll Eyes

It's time for the pro-choicers and pro-lifers to stop this useless fighting and come together to focus completely on preventing unwanted pregnancies.
