Hello Sunshine,
I want to encourage you as you are taking care of your family and looking for a job. I don't think it is simply because you are an "outsider," which you are not anymore.
Jobs ARE difficult to find here, as compared to many other areas of the country. It seems that there are plenty of restaurants and retail jobs, but not many other options. Hopefully that will change.
Regardless of that, keep looking, knocking on doors and asking the people you meet in the area if they are aware of employement opportunities. It will probably take a while, but there are jobs here. Also, make an honest assesment of yourself as you are going through the interview process. How are you presenting yourself? Is your resume up to date, with no typo's (like typing "advise" instead of "advice?")
What about your education/experience level? It might benefit you to enroll in one of the colleges/universities in the area to become more marketable.
You have made a great choice in moving here for your children's sake--that was NOT a mistake. And you may have to work at something (at least for a while) that is not your desired job. You obviously have courage and initiative, so make sure that comes through when you are talking to a potential employer.
In addition to searching the TimesDaiy job listings, check out
www.indeed.com. It is a job site that pulls job leads from several major job posting websites, including TimesDaily. I wish you the best as you continue your search. I've "been there and done that," and know how frustrating it can be.
