Has anyone else filed their AL State Income taxes, yet? Has anyone gotten their refund? I filed my taxes on Feb 2 and still no direct deposited refund. I went to AL DOR's site to check and see when it may be deposited and got a message that said:
Your tax return is being processed.

You should receive your refund in approximately 29 days. However, please be aware that this is only an estimate and we cannot guarantee that you will receive your refund within this timeframe.

So I asked a girl at work about hers. She filed her taxes last weekend and she got the same message. So we started asking around and everyone who has filed AL state income taxes and checked to see when they will get their refund gets the same thing - 29 days. Has anyone gotten a different answer? The site is:

This is the message I got from California:

"Your return has been received and processed, however, a refund cannot be issued at this time. Due to the state’s persistent cash flow problems, the State Controller’s Office was forced to delay a number of payments, including those for tax refunds. State refund payments will resume as soon as cash becomes available."
I got a different response... it told me that mine hasn't been entered into the system yet. I filed mine on January 31st. I have no idea what I should think or do. I wonder if I should enter my husband's SSN since he is listed first on our refund? It isn't much but I would like to have it. I work in a department with 6 other people and none of them have gotten their AL refund back yet either.

I wish they would send them out. Roll Eyes

Who did you do the electronic file with? I'm doing mine this weekend and thought about Turbo Tax.

same message here. I think the "due course of business" means, "We don't have your money, and don't know when we will."

We owe about a $1000 to California Income Tax. I wonder if they will take the same excuse?

I was wondering the same thing, I have this feeling that you may have some men in black visiting you if you did. Remember mom and dads old saying, "do as I say, not as I do" ;o)

I e-filed at the end of January & finally got my refund about two weeks ago. Each time that I checked on the status I would get that same message about being "issued in the due course of business." Which is Alabama's way of saying "We'll send it when we're *!#^* ready, so stop bothering us" So, I never actually got any status info, it just showed up in the bank one day.
