(forget the fact that Chicago already uses the name) Bryant High School in Tuscaloosa tried to use Bears and the Bryant family would not allow it. Plus it doesn't have a ring to it. As for the aafl, if it ever takes off they are going to have to do a better job with logos, names, etc., if they want to be successful in the marketing side of it. I would be ok with no mascot, but the logos they are using look like a cheap shirt you find at a gas station souvenir shop at the beach.
I like Bombers too (nice pick NashBama), especially if based in Birmingham. Birmingham Bombers.

Yellowhammers could be the MLB team in Alabama, but would probably have to be based somewhere like Mobile.

It would be cool to have a pro team, but depending on the city that it's based, I'm not sure we'd go....meaning too far below Bham.

Relax slugger, I was just speaking hypotheticly that IF the NFL was putting a team in our fine state, what would you think a cool name be? Was not meant to be real serious. Whatever you say, ha.

Ain't dat sumpin' how so many people troll the waters of this forum hoping to find something they can get all bent out of shape about so they can pounce on it like a bunch of jackals? Some people take EVERYTHING gravely serious and don't know what it means to even try to use their imaginations or be a little playful. Some of these tough-guy sluggers around here need to learn how to lighten up a little..... Peace Out and Go Bombers! That gets my vote.

The Alabama here for a year !No seriously in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen they could call them the "Red Tailers".The P51`s they flew tails were painted red.

I like the idea of honoring the Tuskegee Airmen and Red Tailers is a good name, just one problem.

You don't want a name that will open yourself up to gay jokes or references to the butt. NFL fans are brutal.
"from the AAFL website"

Just remember that Jerry Grandville said that NFL stands for "not for long" maybe we can come up with what AAFL stands/stood for

ALL AMERICAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE® POSTPONES INAUGURAL SEASON UNTIL 2009

March 13, 2008

ATLANTA, GA -- The All American Football League® (AAFL) announced today the postponement of its inaugural season until 2009. The League will continue to build upon the foundation that has been established, and will continue to discuss opportunities with potential investors.

AAFL sponsors have committed to remain on board for the 2009 season. Currently, the League has corporate partnerships with New Balance, Baden Sports and Rogers Athletic. Also still in place for the 2009 season are a national radio partnership with Touchdown Radio & SportsDay Productions, and an internet broadcast partnership with PlayOn! Sports, a division of Turner Broadcasting.

"We are so very fortunate to have built partnerships with companies who are partners in the truest sense of the word," said Keenan Davis, AAFL VP of League Operations and COO. "We sincerely appreciate their support as we progress toward our new goal of a 2009 inaugural season."

All fans who have purchased tickets to 2008 AAFL games will receive a full refund. Credit cards will be credited and any checks received will be returned.

Additional details regarding the AAFL's postponement are forthcoming.

If you haven't come out to the VBCC to watch the Tennessee Valley Vipers play arena football, then you are missing out! We went and it was a lot of fun. The action is very fast paced and there are several UNA alums on the team.

I know one of their coaches, he was on the Nashville Kats until the franchise folded. Great guy, glad he got a gig in Huntsville.

Arena football is a blast. Looks like regular football, but very different rules.

I like this concept... they should serve an Alabama Slammer shot after each touch down! Wink

Big Grin

The Sidney Lanier High School team is called the Poets. Bet that brings fear into the hearts of their opponents.

While Poets isn't very menacing for sure... The Baltimore Ravens were named the Ravens after famous one time Baltimore resident, Edgar Allen Poe's poem of the same name... they have three Raven Mascots as well named Edgar, Allen, and Poe. (But Raven is way tougher than Poet for sure). Smiler

Well let’s see, we have no stadiums, players, coaches err, ok we will discuss with investors airfare so we can reach those offshore accounts where we have what little cash we coned received from our previous investors.
