I know that I have seen on here somewhere a thread about this before but I couldn't find it so I started a new one. Frowner

I filed the first of Feb and was told it would take about 2 weeks to get my refund now when I check the site this is what I get.

Refunds are being issued from 6 to 8 weeks following approval, but this turnaround time will increase as April 15 approaches. Refunds are issued from the Education Trust Fund as fund balances allow. Thank you for your patience and please be assured the ADOR is doing everything possible to expedite your refund’s approval and issuance.

WTF!

Anybody gotten theirs back and how long did it take?

I need mine. I have to get a new roof before the spring rains kick in. I really depended on this check now who knows when it will get here. So upsetting.

Life is short, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you SMILE!

I filed on January 30th and my AL refund went into my account on March 17th. I think mine took the full 6 weeks. There are people I know who filed before me and still haven't gotten their refund back yet. I hope you get it soon. I know how you feel. I was depending on my federal return for some things and it has been a nightmare what I am going through. I really do wish you luck! Smiler I can tell you that they deposit in on Tuesdays and Fridays.
I filed around mid February and I've gotten this message pretty consistently:

Your return has been received, and it is being processed. The processing time varies for each return. You should receive your refund check 8 to 12 weeks from today.

I thought about changing my withholding, but the way AL has their tax tables set up, the only way to have any meaninful change in your whithholding is to either earn less or claim exempt. I am considering claiming exempt.
I e-filed both my federal and state and got my federal in less than 10 days. I appreciate all you guys responding it did make me feel some what better knowing that I wasn't alone in this wait. Frowner

T S C I have been having an extra 10 dollars a week paid to state for the last 2 years. I got so tired of being surprised that I owed every year. I kinda look at it like a savings plan. lol Now I always get back. That is if they actually pay me back this time. What happens if the Education Trust Fund runs out of money?!?!?!
Beth, I used to do the same thing. I claimed Single and Zero dependents so that I'd have a fat refund. But then I got to thinking... Regions Bank will pay me interest on that money AND they will allow me to withdraw it at any time. Uncle Sam and the State of Alabama won't give me interest. And like you said... what if the education trust fund runs out of money? I'd rather put the $60 or so a week that is currently going to the state coffers and put it in a free Orange savings account from ING then worry about when (IF) the state will ever return my overpayments.

Raine - I'd advise you to file a form with the IRS to get your portion of your refund pronto. It is either the "injured" or the "innocent" spouse releif form. You can find out about it on the IRS website. It will force your portion of the income tax refund to be sent to you pronto. Your hubby's... well... it is still at the mercy of the IRS and their cronies to fix their error and get his portion back to him.
