American Idol

I am pulling for Chris Sligh, Sundance, or Blake. Although Jarod won me over with his replies and good looks after his Marvin Gaye performance this week. Out of the girls, the only true favorite I have is Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha. Both can really belt it out and have great tone.

I can't believe Sanjaya made it through another week. He came across as someone doing a bad impression of a drunk Michael Jackson trying to do Tony Bennett.

He was awful! I think his days are probably numbered.

I didn't necessarily agree with who was voted off last night. AJ was really good (much better than Sanjaya). And there were other girls worse than the ones who were voted off last night. I felt bad for Lauren - I really liked her.

I can't believe they didn't boot off Antonella after those supposed pics of her.

Yep, I was surprised that she's still on there. She strikes me a spoiled brat. Notice the way she rolled her eyes at the judges comments. And then she compared herself to Jennifer Hudson! Hysterical!

and what about Kelly Pickler and the way she was dolled up like a 2 bit lounge singer? I've always thought her "Elly May Clampett" behavior was an act......a gimmick to get attention.

And i'm sure that's what Ryan was referring to when he asked her what she's bought with her money.

it made me think of a tshirt i once saw on a bigbusted blonde that said "i wish these were brains"

p.s. i'm allowed to make remarks about bigbusted blondes since i am one, but mine is natural and comes with a decent IQ....lol.

This is the first season I have even paid attention. After I found the myspace pages of a few contestants, I got addicted and wrote (too many) blogs about it with their links. Chris Sligh and Blake the beat boxer are my two favorites. They are both performers from way back and I think they are the best. The girls are just boring and Antonella is still there BECAUSE of the pictures. Have you seen the ones she claimed are photoshopped? I have never seen a photo that seamlessly doctored.

At any rate, I hope that my new found obsession over this show wanes soon because I need to get back to my real life. But every week it gets weirder and weirder. Nude pics, boob jobs (disgusting, and over the top, I might add) insults and painfully embarrassing performances keep me coming back.

It is very addictive. I got hooked the very first time it aired. I loved the Ted Mack show when i was little and American Idol is sorta like a weird Ted Mack/Gong Show offspring.

I do wish they would get a female judge with a bit more "oooomph." IMHO,Paula talks but never really says anything.

I like Melinda Doolittle & Chris Sligh.

Chris Sligh does have a powerful voice doesn't he? He was really good last night. I also thought Chris Richardson and Blake Lewis (what a cutie) were good. That Phil Stacey guy was awful!

I have to say that I enjoy listening to the girls the most. I wonder how they will do tonight?

Wow. So far, IMO, Melinda seems to be THE one to beat this year. She comes across as a long time professional. My two other favorites are LeKeisha and Gina. LeKeisha for her voice and "Yo" factor,as Randy calls it. And Gina for her voice and style. The competition needs a good female rocker.
Bottom of the barrel is still Antonella. Not only because of her voice, but also her attitude. And i think the other one that came across with a bit of an attitude was Haley.

The guys---no clear cut favorite, yet, but i do like Chris and Blake and Sundance is good when he sticks to what he does best.
Least favorite is Sanjaya.

I agree - Melinda is great and I like Lakisha too. Sanjaya is also my least favorite.

They were talking about the Antonella deal this morning on Good Morning America. Does anyone else find this unfair? I looked up the photos online and it is indeed Antonella showing it all. They dismissed a heavyset black girl for doing this but not Antonella. What gives?

Prejuidice. Skinny white woman/heavy black woman.
The black girl was "Frenchie" and she was very good. I think the dismissal helped her career.

They do seem to bend the standards on the show. Several times they have made comments about heavy women not being what they are looking for,etc. and telling them they need to lose weight, but i don't think they've ever made those comments about the men. Reuben for example.
And if a heavy woman does make it through? they are more prone to put through heavy black women than heavy white women. As a matter of fact i can't recall a heavy white woman getting through at all?? and i know i have seen several good ones in the suditions.
Kimberly Locke was curvaceous and i remember Simon suggesting that she lose some weight.

Okay, there are a lot of Indian citizens in this country and I expect all of them are calling up to vote for Sanjaya. That is the only thing I can figure! At least Antonella got booted off.

Felt sorry for both Sabrina and Sundance - they were better than some of the ones who stayed.

Sabrina was a surprise, but the Sunjaya/Sundance thing is plain ol' ridiculous. Like you said, there must be a lot of Indians phoning in. Is the show aired in India? Since it's so heavily populated maybe the whole dang country is calling in?

When someone is voted off Ryan always asks the judges if they have any advice and last words for them and they give the "follow your dream, you are a great talent, this not the end,just the beginning" speeches to try and make the contestant feel better.
Did you notice Antonella got snubbed on that part? Ryan told her she wasn't coming back, she sang her song and that was it. Nothing at all from the judges.

At least Chris, Blake, Lekeisha and Melinda are still safe.
