Why is ***an (***an) always put in the feedback forms like this above?
Are we so afraid of the (***'s)because maybe they own, operate this new's paper called the "Times Daily"?
I mean hell they and other countries are allowed to own,or to purchase any and all American Industries their little hearts desire, or are we afraid of retribution from the second world war ( you know we did nuke those nice people to end that war)?
You have shown extreme favoritism in blocking out the word ***an (***AN) and I and others of this community want to know WHY?

The system simple blocks racial slurs and J-A-P is a racial slur. Now J-a-panese isn't a racial term but it starts with J-A-P. We had the same thing at work when we attempted to cut down on the junk mail by blocking the word anal. It turns out we blocked the word analysis too.

I think too you might be about 10 years late in your J-a-panese purchasing American industry fears too. That ended in the early 90s.

I'm sure if you would try a few other common racial slurs you would find them censored too. Most of us can come up with a coherent thought without using them and I suggest you try.

With regards to the Times Daily, its owned by the New York Times which is a publicly traded stock. It isn't owned by the J-A-Panese.

Here is a list of the top shareholders:

If the Times Daily tech guys have something called "regular expressions" at their disposal, they can separate words like Japanese and shittake from their less-acceptable prefixes. A regular expression is a pattern that a computer can use to see if a word has a certain characteristic. With their filter, the tech guys should be able to block, for instance, a three-letter word that starts with j, ends with p and has an a in between. Since Japanese doesn't fall under that category, it would be passed over. I would recommend that they do that.

My grandmother called them J-a-p-s even until she died almost 2 years ago at age 87.

All the WW2 generation called them that. You would to if you remembered Pearl Harbor, Bataan, Wake Island, etc. She had a personal friend of hers who died in the Bataan Death March.

I do not think it a racial slur. I call it a play-shortcut on a word during a time of war. Political correctness and revisionist history run amock is what I call apologists who call it "racist."

Now, today, Ja-pan is an ally, one of our best allies. Same as the Germans (to an extent). No need to call them wartime words anymore.
