Two anti-Israel demonstrators were tossed to the ground by a California Highway Patrol vehicle after they ignored multiple warnings by the officer to move aside, according to a video posted by independent journalist Andy Ngo.
“At the #antifa anti-Israel direct action march, they tried swarming and attacking a California Highway Patrol vehicle on the road. They ignore orders to get out of the way,” Ngo said in a Twitter post along with the accompanying video.
In the video, the officer can be heard instructing a swarming crowd of demonstrators, some carrying Antifascist flags while others carry the Palestinian flag, that he is getting ready to depart.
“Get out of the way, I’m going to take off,” the officer instructs the crowd as he also sounds the vehicle’s siren. “Get out of the way! Get out of the way!”
While most demonstrators appear to follow the officer’s command, two protesters do not and remain in front of the police vehicle as it eases forward, pushing back against it.
After several seconds of ignoring his warning to move out of the way, the officer steadily accelerates and eventually tosses the two demonstrators aside, leaving them sprawled out on the pavement. As some demonstrators give chase to the highway patrol vehicle, at least two other officers can be seen intervening and corraling some of the pursuers.
It’s not clear where the incident took place. However, a day after Israeli police clashed with Palestinian protesters last week, which led to indiscriminate rocket attacks from Iran-backed militant group Hamas, some 200 protesters gathered in Los Angeles earlier this week to denounce the Jewish state.
The protesters gathered outside the Israeli consulate, many carrying Palestinian flags that read “Free Palestine” and “We Support Palestine.”
A man and a woman alternated using a public address system to shout, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” and, “We don’t want a two-state solution, we want ’48” — the latter a reference to Palestinian settlements in territory that is now Israel following the Jewish state’s declaration of independence after World War II.
