I don't remember Highpockets real name. I just remember he was chief when Killen was THE place to get a speeding ticket. And the place to get stopped if God forbid you had been to the "line".This was in the 70's before Colbert county went wet. The only place to buy beer was at the Tn. line. You had to be careful however one might have ran into a fellow Babtist.
Can't say that I remember "Highpockets" I guess you are referring to the Killen speed trap in some way. I pay closer attention to Florence City Hall: remember quite a few "nicknames" for public officials through the years going all the way back to "Rabbit Eared Batson" given by the honorable Oscar Ray Peden (the Scott Carrier of his time who stood with the garbage men in front of city hall banging garbage lids so they would get a raise decent enough to raise a family on) and there was "Chrome Dome" Coussons, "One for the Road" Jordan, and "Peanut Man" (can't even remember his last name: the last council person from District 3. Of course we have had to endure "Preach On, Flip Flop" Pendleton for something like 20 years now and of course, BOOBY "Don Nothing" Irons. Oh and I forgot "RED" the last lady council person. That is all my braincells can think of right now.
