Are you really voting FOR a candidate? Or simply AGAINST a candidate?

Slogging through the posts on these forums, I notice that I don't really see anyone giving reasons why they are voting FOR their candidate. The overwhelming number of posts are simply people railing AGAINST a candidate. I seriously doubt this is what our founding fathers intended for their Democratic Experiment.
