OR put the military on the border to repel the invasion.
Pinal County, Ariz. Sheriff Mark Lamb said Thursday the Biden administration could regain control over the border and end the current migrant crisis by reversing course and reimplementing enforcement policies and agreements put in place under former President Donald Trump.
In a segment with Fox News’ Neil Cavuto, Lamb agreed that the situation along the border was not easing up and the White House does not seem to notice.
“No, they don’t. We’re used to it. But obviously this has increased 100, 200 percent for us. But this is definitely a crisis and is what we’re trying to get our politicians in Washington, and frankly get America to understand,” Lamb said.
He went on to discuss images provided to Cavuto by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department and which the host was displaying during the segment that show how migrants are smuggled into the country.
Lamb described what is called “a bail-out” where several migrants leap from a vehicle and run from officers.
“That particular vehicle you saw pictures of, they had seven people bail out of the cab of that truck. We found eight more undocumented aliens in the back of the truck. And this is happening to us every day,” Lamb continued.
Some of the images featured illegal immigrants dressed in camouflage clothing and wearing “carpet shoes” to make it easier to break into the U.S. without being discovered.
“These are folks that are not here to claim asylum. They are trying to come into this country undetected,” Lamb said. “We have no idea what kind of criminal history that they have. What gangs they represent. Honestly, it’s a disaster. I appreciate you bringing the light to it.”
Cavuto went on to say that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas visited the U.S.-Mexico border on Thursday before asking Lamb what he would say if he had an opportunity to speak to anyone in the administration about the worsening crisis.
“I would tell them we gotta get back to securing the border, that’s first and foremost. You have to stop the bleeding. You’ve gotta secure the border,” Lamb said, adding that authorities want to take care of the waves of migrant women and children coming in, but that is increasingly difficult to do.
“They need to go back to the policies that President Trump implemented, put the pride aside and get back to the policies. Because what they’re doing is a disservice to the American people right now,” Lamb continued.
He went on to discuss a letter signed by 275 other sheriffs sent to the administration from 39 states in which they pleaded with the White House to implement stricter border enforcement policies.
“That should tell the American people how bad this issue is for us. It is affecting the communities across this country and we want it to stop. So my message would be, let’s secure the border, we’ll help you fix this problem,” said Lamb.
Cavuto went on to ask Lamb how many illegal migrants he and Border Patrol agents are encountering, to which the sheriff replied in the thousands, approximately half of whom are not from Mexico.
“These are staggering numbers. We cannot sustain this in our communities in these states” and in communities around the country, Lamb responded.
“And remember, there’s always the element of the human trafficking and drug trafficking that comes with it,” he added. “We’re standing up as sheriffs.”
