Yeah a few weeks ago I got four out of six numbers in the Powerball, so I guess you could say I almost won the lottery. Unfortunately I'm still not a multi-millionaire.

You've heard the old adage "don't put all your eggs in one basket"? Well Texas put all their eggs in the Colt McCoy basket, and when it got knocked over, all their eggs got broke. They probably wish now they had some kind of running game to fall back on.

Instead of pondering what might have happened the Texas coaches need to look at what did and try to fix it.

The question is...Who's going to be the first team in pass happy Big 12 to realize you need something besides a high powered passing attack. My bet is on Pelini at Nebraska. Rumor has it that Tommy Tubberville is going to Texas Tech.

Do you have ANY idea how foolish you sound? Typical moo-U (auburn) jealousy and whining. It just makes your little school look even sillier. Keep it up. Everyone is laughing at you while we celebrate YET ANOTHER National Championship. We're #1 !

From a TEXAS newspaper: Texas might have won -- not!

I am puzzled by the number of messages I have received this morning either on Twitter, Facebook, email, etc., that state flatly that Texas would have won if Colt McCoy had not been injured.

Texas might have won.

That much is true. But the fact the Longhorns got to within three in the fourth quarter with a freshman quarterback somehow makes them national champions in some minds.

Do people understand that there are all kinds of possible scenarios for every football game?

Alabama would not have played nearly as conservatively -- wouldn't have been able to -- had McCoy stayed in the game. That might have hurt the Tide, it might not have.

Alabama deserves a ton of credit for winning the championship. Texas' defense and Gilbert also deserve recognition for what they did under tremendous pressure.

It's just a shame the game wasn't what it might have been.

My prediction to the inevitable question: Alabama 45, Boise State 19. Kellen Moore broken into pieces by halftime.

And another story from the LA Times:

Let's face it, the best team won

Alabama fought back, earning every inch of this championship. The best team won, period, end of season.

Looking around as his team danced across the Rose Bowl field late Thursday amid confetti and fireworks smoke and to some of the coolest boyish grins ever, Alabama coach Nick Saban almost smiled.

"A lot of blood, sweat and tears," he said.

None of it tainted.

Maybe McCoy should br more like McElroy. Man up a little. Playing in the SEC a quarterback has to be tough.

McElroy was playing injured.

Face it, McElroy hasn't lost a game since the eighth grade. My money is on him. A factor in all sports that one must learn, you have to learn how to let winning come to you. McElroy knows this.

In several of the bowl games this season, several teams would not do this.

Let's see...Texas beats Oklahoma by three after knocking Sam Bradford out of the game in the first four minutes. His backup comes in and throws what two or three ints.? I don't remember Bob Stoops or the OU fans whining about it. So I guess Texas shouldn't have even been there. I know plenty of Cornhuskers who don't think so either. lol

Excellent point, mkr!
JOY4567 What makes you think everyone that thinks the game would have turned out different if mccoy had not been knocked out early is an Auburn fan you must be one of those that talk football but never watch it cause texas was pushing bama around until he got hurt.Bama won, good for them, but texas almost beat them with a freshman with 12 snaps to his credit, get real.I like bama but the fans act so stupid it makes me want to watch soccor.

Just curious...how did you eat your crow?
U know it is ironic in the 60's Texas knocked out Namath in the bowl game and won. This time it goes full circle the Tide does the same to Texas brakes the losing drought and all we hear is ALMOST. That is part of the game. In football just like in life u play the cards u are dealt. And as usual Alabama plays just what it takes to win. And in this case when u turn to the last page, WE WIN!! ROLL TIDE.........
I cant think of anything worse than an obnoxious tide fan. Well, maybe an LSU fan, but thats putting tide fans pretty low. And who said anything about being an Auburn fan. Thats what i hate most about an alabama fan. No matter which game the tide plays in, somehow they find a way to put down an Auburn fan. By the way, do you know the percentage of graduates of alabama vs. Auburn. Auburn has 81.34% graduation rate vs that of alabama at 43.45%. What's the use of winning a national championship if you can't read what's on the trophy!!!!!!!!!!! I guess you eventual learn how to read in jail.....

Maybe that is because when you drive down the street in Tuscaloosa, they don't throw a diploma in your window. Graduation rates for universities can mean mutiple things, but in the case of Alabama it is because they have a higher standard to uphold. For the past five years they have matched or exceeded national measures for higher education. Three years ago there was talk of probation at Auburn for infractions by the educators.
I would not use those statistics for my benefit if I were you. In contrast, Alabama is one of the highest in the SEC for success in graduating degreed athletes.
And I certainly would not bring up "jail" in relation to athletes. Auburn, TN, and Georgia lead the SEC in criminal athletes. I guess if they giving a trophy for that, they may actually get a national championship.

Never met an obnoxious Alabama fan.

43% vs 81% just tells me academic standards are higher at Alabama. They apparently don't just "give" grades or promote socially.

Regardless of all the ifs ands and buts,Alabama humbley won the National Championship and will most likely win it the next two seasons.Might as well get used to it.

"Paying for the game in advance"? What, are you talking about? Here is some good advice, albeit unsolicited, it is worth reading and taking heed... I am paraphrasing from a great quote here, so bear with me... "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt." This is something you really should take to heart.
