Cabbie Returns Bag of Diamond Rings
By VERENA DOBNIK

NEW YORK (Feb. 7) -- Never mind diamonds -- a New York cabbie was a Texas girl's best friend. The driver returned 31 diamond rings he found in his cab after dropping off the passenger, who had left him with a 30-cent tip on a $10.70 fare.

Well, for one thing, it doesn’t say as to whether or not she is a rich girl. Only states she’s a jeweler. Next, he opened the case at the HQ in front of the alliance president. As if he was going to close it up and walk out with it, keeping the whole kitten-caboodle! He did get a 100$ reward from the girl. And too, he says himself, pertaining to the meager tip, that “some people might be broke” or “they’re distracted.” Seriously. How are you, although very subliminally, relating this to the right wing?

This is how the rich got rich, giving 30 cent tips. we sure don't need to tax any rich folks, who give back like this nice lady did.

It has nothing to do with her being rich, it has to do with her being a *****. When I was a restaurant server I got good tips and bad tips from both the rich and poor. Some people, regardless of income, are simply ********.

You got that right!!! I waited tables for five years and it never amazed me at how different people tip. Some of the people that has no money would at least tip decent while the rich would come in, run your legs off, demand everything, and leave only a dollar!!!

I've had rich people tip me very well and watched lower income people try to get out quickly because they know they just stiffed me. People don't realize that tipping is part of the cost of dining. Service isn't free, if you want good service you pay for it. If you tip well at your favorite restaurant, word gets around and you'll always be taken care of. If you tip poorly, word will get a round and you'll be the last table to get refills. Tip poorly and act like an *******, you'll be enjoying an extra ingredient in your food.

Did anyone notice, He was a native of India, working as a cab driver in New York, and overqualified. AND SCRUPULOUSLY HONEST.
He actually took the baggage to the office when he could not find any outside identification.
The man is HONORABLE.
I’m not disputing his honesty. I’m not disputing those who give meager tips. What I am wondering is why, just because she’s from Texas, it’s okay to stereotype her for that. Also, to assume she is rich! Most puzzling, how does this correlate to the right wing? It’s a story about an honorable man, regardless of his background, doing something nice. It’s a story about a lady from Texas, who was very lucky to have her belongings returned and in turn, she gave him a reward. What about the Widow’s mite tale you refer too? Does she not qualify for that because she’s from Texas?
