My kids would freak out if I bought a casket from Wal-mart and had it shipped to my house and 'stored' in the garage waiting for 'that' day...

I want one with the big yellow smiley face symbol on it that Walmart uses...or maybe one that looks like all their generic stuff now: just a plain white casket with black lettering on the side.
Yeah, that's my point in my question. Thank you for your reply I would like to know what others think about this and maybe some who have had dealings with cremation of their family members. Maybe I should have made a poll.....LOL Anyway, this is something important and has been on my mind a lot. Anyone care to contribute to the Creamation Info.?? You know I realize I should have started a new topic about cremation, sorry I didn't do that. Any info is greatly appreciated.quote:Originally posted by _Joy_:quote:Originally posted by lynnblount:

LOL!
Just, that sounds really high...had a family member who chose to be cremated about 2 years ago & don't think it was anywhere near that.
I, too, prefer to be cremated, but if I go before my Mom, it will have to be a regular burial. She flipped out when we were all discussing it & asked me not to do that. It has something to do with a Bible verse. I figure God can surely turn my ashes into something spectacular. I mean, think about what he's working with if I'm not cremated. Ew.....We

I checked with Morrison ( can I say that here?) about cremation.First of all I have 2 plots payed for in Oakwood/ Tuscumbia. I feel funeral are such a rip off and believe it would be easier on my grandchildren to not go through all the viewing and visitation stuff. I learned this funral home does the cremation for $I,895.00 ( today's price). My question is... does this sound like the normal/ regular price when compare to other companies? I want to pre-pay so my kids won't have any burden. I just want the best deal. Now, surely they can light a fire cheaper than that! LOL..If I had my ashes sprinkled in my yard( home is paid for) that would saave the cost od the back-hoe and be as simomple as can be. I live in Tuscumbia and I'm not sure about cty ordinances, however the lady at the Funeral home assured me it is legal statewide.Any input on this is greatly appreciated. What are your thoughts ANYONE??? Advice appreciated very much.

You have to remember that it's just an empty body. Your loved one has moved on.

if you donate your organs and tissue then the cremation is free.

If any of mine would be good for another living person that is what I would want. I guess I need to have my Will done over for that. Thank you all for your replies.
