Hi to all my Forum Friends,

BE CAREFUL WHO YOU ELECT - it may come back to bite you!  When Roman Catholic John Kennedy was elected president - he did not say of the election and Roman Catholicism, "This is about me!"

Yet, that is exactly what has happened in Houston, Texas.
Mayor Annise Parker, an open lesbian, had stated in an earlier public discussion that "This is about me" when explaining the need for a new LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) ordinance.   The controversial LGBT ordinance, approved on an 11-6 vote Wednesday evening, gives homosexuals special rights in terms of employment and housing -- and contains language that could lead to criminal prosecutions.

Texas Values reports that at the council meeting on Wednesday, leading local African-American pastors "walked out of the council chambers after homosexual advocates were given priority placement for testimony at the beginning of the meeting, while the mayor and some council members voted to keep the pastors further down on the list."

Saenz (Jonathan Saenz of Texas Values) contends council members, including the openly lesbian mayor, ignored voters in their decision.   "Over 110,000 people sent email messages to the city council opposing this ordinance," he informs OneNewsNow. "  That's more than the 98,000 votes that the mayor got in her last election.

This is a good example of why we encourage folks to think long and hard BEFORE you VOTE.

Read more in the article:

Houstonians Ignored In LGBT Vote, Says Group

http://www.onenewsnow.com/cult...s-group#.U5H6tiiM9r8

And, this is a great example of why Christian believers MUST become more involved - MUST become active voters - MUST vote their Christian consciences - and MUST stop being passive and start sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ more actively with the world (Matthew 29:19-20, Acts 1:8, Mark 16:15 - more commonly known as the Great Commission).

Please notice that the graphics below states "Christian influence" -- NOT Christian control.   We are not seeking a theocratic government, only one containing an equal degree of Christian influence to balance the secular society's influence.

Christians do not want a Christian theocracy in government.  However, Secularist DEMAND a Secular theocracy in government.   And, that is why Christians must become more active in the political arena.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Hi all,

We have all heard the old saying, "Stupid Is As Stupid Does!"

Well, now, in our Forum Friend, Crash, we have a new version of that:  "Non-Intelligence Is As Non-Intelligence Does!"

Crash, my Friend, it is a delight to read all your SIMPLE posts.  They make me praise God that I did not stop learning in grade school.

Bless your simple little heart!

Yes, be very careful. A less-than'thoughtful vote for a candidate professing Christian values could result in the election of someone like the Alabama legislator who got a bill passed that authorized the posting of the 10 Commandments in public schools, wholly contradictory to existing judicial decisions.  Posturing pseudo-religious weasels like him know that their legislation can not withstand a legal challenge, but they pass it anyway to suck up to voters who know no better and who think that their representative must be a fine godly Christian person to have aut****d and promoted such legislation.  Such nonsense was demonstrated on a larger scale by the unctuous weasel, Roy Moore, who defied the law and thumbed his nose at the state and Federal courts with his 5,200 pound 10 Commandments monument and was thrown out of office as a result.

Other votes for "Christian" candidates put into high public office such hypocrites as former South Carolina Mark (Appalachian Trail) Sanford, who lied to his constituency to cover up his furtive visit to his extramarital sex partner in Argentina and Nevada Senator John Ensign, who was caught in an adulterous relationship with a female member of his senate staff, who was married to a male member of his staff.  Big John kept it in the office family.

Yep, watch out how you vote.  Remember those famous lyrics:

"People comin' up to ya,

Shoutin, 'Glory, hallelujah',

And they're gonna sock it to ya

In the name of the Lord."

It happens every day!

Contendah, my Friend,

You tell me of the Ten Commandments, "wholly contradictory to existing judicial decisions."

So, in YOUR theology -- man trumps God, right?

The following is a good answer to the question of God or Man:

Shall We Obey God's Law Or Human Law?
http://carm.org/shall-we-obey-gods-law-or-human-law

Acts 5:29 and Romans 13:1; I Peter 2:13

Obey God:

Acts 5:29, "But Peter and the apostles answered and said, We must obey God rather than men."

Obey Man:

Romans 13:1,  "Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God."

1 Peter 2:13,  "Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority,"

The simple answer is that Christians are to obey human law except where that human law violates God's Law.  Our supreme duty is to obey God.  Since God tells us to also obey human laws, we should.  But, when they come in conflict, we are to"obey God rather than men."

Contendah, my Friend, I believe the Bible teaches that we should obey God.  My faith, and the Great Commission, tells me share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with ALL the world.  And, that does not exclude schools, public buildings, public parks, etc.   ALL the world means, well, ALL the world.

What does it mean in YOUR legalistic church and theology?  It would seem that YOUR belief is that we should share the Gospel -- EXCEPT where man tells us not to share it.  Well, gee whiz, with our non-believing and atheistic Friends -- that would be everywhere.

So, my Friend, who do YOU follow -- God or man?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Contendah, my Friend,

Not sure where you found your song:

"People comin' up to ya,

Shoutin, 'Glory, hallelujah',

And they're gonna sock it to ya

In the name of the Lord."

Is that one of the hymns in your legalistic church, the one you are ashamed to identify?

Personally, I prefer this song by Bill & Gloria Gaither:

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

Just a thought!  Maybe it is time you changed your anthem.

Bless your heart!'

Blithering Bill,

In my post, above, I referred to:

"the Alabama legislator who got a bill passed that authorized the posting of the 10 Commandments in public schools, wholly contradictory to existing judicial decisions."

You have irrationally misinterpreted what I posted by construing it to mean that I consider the 10 Commandments to be “wholly contradictory to existing judicial decisions.”  To any reader who understands English usage, it should have been apparent that it is the “posting of the 10 Commandments in public schools” that is the antecedent of the descriptor “wholly contradictory to existing judicial decisions.”  Your eagerness to vilify me, catalyzed, one would suppose by that  obsessive streak of theocratic ideology that contaminates your meager thought processes whenever they are brought to bear on issues of church, state, and the Constitution, compels you to the inane and conclusions you have posted.

In no way did anything I posted affirm or imply that “man trumps God.”

There is nothing in the legal prohibition against posting the 10 Commandments in public schools or on other public properties that prevents you, me, or anyone else from obeying the laws of God.

As a matter of fact, it is actually permissible, under certain defined circumstances, to post the 10 Commandments in public schools, but only when they are a part of a display that includes other examples of laws and the making of laws.  It is when that requirement is ignored and the 10 Commandments are posted as singular display, unaccompanied by such other materials, that the Constitution is violated.

You and other determinedly ignorant theocrats who lament the alleged “removal of God and prayer from the public schools” need to get yourselves educated so that you do not continue to come across for the simplistic fools you show yourselves to be when discussing such subject matter.  I have repeatedly posted a link to a very thorough and informative treatment of this subject, a “Joint Statement” published by the ACLU and about 30 religious organizations.  The statement lists numerous religious activities that are entirely permissible within the public school setting.  Read it and see just how broad a range of religious activities may constitutionally be carried out by public school students and teachers.  Limitations on religious activity in public schools come into play only when such activities are designed, implemented, administered, conducted, or otherwise controlled by agents of GOVERNMENT, such as public school teachers or administrators.  Here, again, for your benefit--if you will read it--is a link to the “Joint Statement of Current Law on Religion in the Public Schools.”  If you disagree with information in that statement, please let us know.  If you choose to ignore it or decline to read it because the ACLU was a party to its development, then that will only affirm your closed-minded, adamantine resistance to honest inquiry.

ribbit, most of the atheists and most of the believers wanted it moved.

Just because he says the word Christian doesn't mean it isn't political.

Try to keep him over here......please!!!

Oh, stop your quibbling about which forum this belongs in.  It has to do with both politics and religion.  Vioting is about politics, but there is an interface between politics and religion, and aspects of that were introduced in the initial post.  So find something meaningful to add to the discussion instead of whining about where you think this string should be located-..-please!

Contendah, my Friend, we Christians most often use Scritpure verses or passages to support our contentions.   But, I suppose if one is a liberal legalistic Christian -- the only support to be found is from the ACLU!   Good luck!

Bless your little ACLU heart!

Oh, horse patooties, Bill,

Anyone--except a dimbulb like you-- who read my post intelligently (which YOU assuredly did not) could easily discern that I was not relying upon the ACLU as a source of my personal religious beliefs. I simply cited that organization and its religious associates (those over 30 religious groups who co-issued the "Joint Statement" to which I referred) as a reliable source of information on religious activities that are constitutionally permissible in public schools.

And since you have followed my activity on this forum, you surely have noticed that in scores of my posts, I have cited scripture to support my positions on numerous issues discussed here. Thus your silly-ass contentions that my "only support...is from the ACLU" and that I am unable to support my beliefs except through reliance on the ACLU are so outrageously and demonstrably erroneous as to be downright laughable.

You are avoiding the information in the "Joint Statement" because it so powerfully contradicts the simplistic complaint that you and other ignorant theocrats so often blither out, namely that "They have taken God and prayer out of the schools."  That assertion is false on its face, as proven by the numerous CONSTITUTIONALLY PERMISSIBLE religious practices identified and described in the "Joint Statement," but you adamantly refuse to acknowledge that because it interferes with the persecution complex that you have constructed around your amateurish interpretation of the Establishment Clause and its application in government venues. Small-mindedness is the retreat of the determinedly bullheaded.  I have to conclude that you are irretrievably mired in confusion and delusion of your own wishful making, Bill.
