Prefer to discover or seek out a child needing assistance for my charity project.

Do not have spouse but have adult children that I will probably give money to.

I enjoy do doing a large part of the family cooking for the holidays and in fact have already started. I will also be the one providing our table lines, etc. I've already began constructing the napkin displays. I expect the Thanksgiving table to be nothing less than perfect elegance!
I for one am very ashamed of how materialist my family has become. They are no appreciative of the simple things in life. Apparently they have forgotten about the hardships we experienced in the past; including the holiday season, spend in ICU, praying for a miracle.

Christmas is not about who got what; the hottest retail item being promoted; but a day of caring and giving thanks to the blessings bestowed upon us. I am a simple person and not ashamed of my roots as others I know.

I asked wife and kids to each to submit a list of items, including sizes, prices, etc for me to select from, with they knowing, the line budget for gifts was tight. Well, I got what I asked for, with my wife and daughter having a close race on who could out do the other. I have yet to receive a list from my son.

My holiday plans are simple. I’ve already made a special donation to the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham from my reserve account, as a token of thanks for giving me a place of shelter and rest during my numerous visits to them during this past 20 plus years.

I’ll give a donation to a local charity, to make sure that some family has a meal to share this holiday season.

I’ll also tend to support a local ‘angel” who not longer receives visits from their family as they sit awaiting their final days in a nursing home.

For my special friends, between now and Christmas, I’ll will began to journey into the kitchen, making various gifts of peanut brittle, home made fudge, home made cookies, as a note of thanks…… for being a friend. I know it’s not much, but the smiles say it all.

Then on both Thanksgiving and Christmas morning, while everyone sleeps, I’ll get up before dawn, allow my dog to ride with me, and find someplace of silence to watch the sunrise while drinking a hot cup of coffee, and say a special pray to the Lord for allowing me nearing 50 years on this trouble Earth as the gifts will have all have been opened the previous evening.

Sometimes, later in the day, I’ll spend time with my family including my parents, hoping that everyone enjoys themselves and stays safe.
Stinky, your list made me cry. How lovely.

I will spend the day with family. I don't buy a lot of gifts. I am a single mother with grown children and they understand that I must save for retirement. I am toying with the idea if writing a short book detailing past Christmas memories complete with illustrations. I can do these with my computer at very little cost. I may include some recipes we enjoy during the holidays. I have a very special chicken stew recipe that my kids love on christmas Eve.

I agree that Christmas has become to materialistic. Merry Christmas!

Sounds like you are advertising. All we need now is truetooit with his convenient link to shoalandas blog with more info. Will the mods never put a stop to your bid for free advertising?
Grape, I think someONE is trying to imply that annie is BC. If they are - they forgot to clear their "cookies" before they wrote this:

But back on topic, I like to get an "angel" to help for Christmas. I love shopping for kids & it makes me happy to know that I am fortunate enough to help a needy family at Christmas time.
