Hold on a minute, Extra. Semi is right - you sin every time you tell someone they are going to Hell. It is not for YOU to judge. And the Bible tells us that we should speak in love when we are sharing His word. You are NOT speaking in love. So yes, you are sinning. Semi, on the other hand, is SEEKING. And judgemental words flung at a seeker are more likely to turn someone AWAY from God. I think you need to apologize to Semi, and then pray for forgivness.

No doubt ole hitch had a nasty side against Christians but so does best and we still love her.

I could, with the aide of my friend athiest Sapolsky explain to some degree why the nasty disposition towards believers but it would be time consuming and above most heads.

Not too far into the conversation we would have to ask” do the laws of physics explain why atheistt are nasty toward Christians?”  if we say that the laws of physics cannot explain why, one of two things must of necessity be concluded. We don‘t understand the laws and have made an error…………or  the human mind or conscience allow for violation of physical laws.

Thank you, my sweet friend. But, sadly, Extra doesn't get it. People like him are too busy pointing out other people's shortcomings instead of looking within their own heart.

Love you...hope you're feeling better.

One thing is certain now.  Pascal's wager has a totally new meaning as Hitchens is concerned.  As for Those who look at this man's death and wonder about a deathbed or last minute (of life) confession and conversion I am not qualified to rule out that possibility however from how I understand Scriptures for that to happen it would have to be Of God and not of any last minute desire of Hitchens.

In other words I believe the Bible\Scripture teaches that God (by His Holy Spirit) must "enable" the person.  Some call it being "called" while others use the term Convicted.  Which ever term you use I personally believe that God plays an active part in each  salvation and conversion and that conversion is confirmed by the Baptism of the Holy Spirit or the Spirits entry into the person.  Therefore I don't believe everyone is guaranteed salvation just because they might come to a mental realization the may want it.  Hence the importance of responding to God's call/conviction when He extends it.

Just an opinion mind you.

Ono, I myself,[can’t speak for 260] have semi on ‘auto forgive’ if she took the time to ax my forgiveness for sins against me she would grow a long beard before finishing.

I’ve grown very fond of semi and pay no attention to her being mean to me. I know she gets it from best anyhow. Hanging out with her and all.  Them two could clear ‘new ground’ stumps and all hooked to a double tree with big trace chains. “come up heah!! Best  come around heah semi!!”

Not yet, but maybe soon.

I'm so sorry you have had to deal with judgemental people. YOU know more about the Bible than most of them, AND you put into practice the kindness, caring, and love that the Bible tells us we should all be showing. So even though you're not a Chistian, you are a better Christian than a lot of people who profess to be. You may not be "saved" (yet), but God sees that you are not harming others with judgemental words. Your questions and confusion have not caused anyone to turn from God. There are a lot of "Christians" who cannot say the same.

No ma'am , you are not correct. Semi comtinually assaults those who try to teach the truth in these forums. She constantly sides with and defends the enemies of God. There is no blasphemy she won't defend. She hates God, God's people and especially those whom he has commissioned to preach his word. Her deeds speak enough. You cannot go to the extent she does and call yourself saved.

Telling someone they are going to Hell is not a sin, if that is the case, the Pope of Rome is the biggest sinner, because he claims no one can go to heaven without him.

You are correct on all points. Hitchens is one of those who took the pledge to "blaspheme the spirit". He made his bed, now he's paying for it.

Because you don't like the way God runs his universe.

You repeatedly give that for the reason for your atheism.

Oh No,
I had thought better of you. Don't you know trying to placate a spoiled rotten child is no way to make them see the error of their ways? Get a backbone and stand for the truth and quit worrying about people's feelings. Semi has made her chioce, she wants it her way or the highway, i say give her a good kick in the pants.

Poor Hitchens.

I wonder if he got what he seemed so desperately to achieve.  Non-existance.

In the end we are all winners.

We get what we want.

If you want to commit the ultimate in un-reality then you will become unreal.  And if God is the ultimate reality then those who choose to reject God can opt out of the eternal adventure at the end of their short lives here on earth.

See, everyone wins.

I do wonder if he (Hitchens) will truely choose to opt out though...

So many athiests seem to have rightly rebelled against all the bad stuff which perverts the named religions of this world.  It is easy to see how they could choose to make such a decision.

I would like to believe that all those who truely cherish goodness will be given the option to choose survival, once they awaken on the next world and see what true religion really is...

But I guess we will all have to find out the answer to that question on our own.

Hi Vic! Have you ever read any of Extra's posts in Politics? This is they guy who thinks 9/11 was an inside job. I wouldn't put too much credence in anything he says. He'll probably find some quote from some wacko fringe website that says the Pope is a werewolf or something. An aluminum foil thought repellant hat might be in order for this guy.

Hey ONo, -260 needs something, a brain under the hat would help.

I was wondering if he could conjure up some more Bearing False Witness

and Hatred against the Mother of God?

Or maybe just some good old ignorant superstition.

Hi O No,

You tell Chick, "I'm so sorry you have had to deal with judgmental people.  YOU know more about the Bible than most of them, AND you put into practice the kindness, caring, and love that the Bible tells us we should all be showing."

Are you serious?  How many times have I extended an olive branch to Chick -- and she has spit at me?  I have always tried to respond to her honestly and non-judgmental.  Yet, she always accuses me of condemning her to hell.  No matter how many times I, you, or anyone, tells her that we are not condemning her -- she is condemning herself -- she refuses to hear it.

If I, or anyone, tell her that the Bible teaches that all who deny God will go to hell -- and, she chooses to deny God, to deny Jesus Christ, to deny the teachings of the Bible -- that is not me, or another Christian, condemning her.  It is God, in His Written Word, offering her eternal life -- and she turns her back and walks away from Him.  That is not me, nor any other Christian, pushing her away.  That is her, of her own free will, walking away from God and eternal life.  So, who is condemning her -- but, herself?

You tell her, "YOU know more about the Bible than most of them."

She may intellectually know the Bible -- or know where to find certain Scripture verses.  But, if she spiritually knew the Bible, she could not refuse to believe and receive eternal life.  How can anyone, knowing the Truth of the Bible -- deny God?   Yet, she continually does refuse Him.

O No, most atheists, and even Satan, know the Bible very well.  But, none of them have more than an intellectual knowledge.  They may be in the Word of God intellectually -- but, the Word of God is not in them.  Unfortunately, it seems that Chick has the same  problem.

She has seldom, if ever, written a civil word to me.  And, yet, you say to her "you put into practice the kindness, caring, and love that the Bible tells us we should all be showing." Where?  When?

O No, I would love to be Friends with Chick.  However, I will not compromise my Christian faith to be her Friend.  Even though she has never been civil to me -- I have shown great restraint in responding to her.  I will admit that I have written some rather caustic responses at times.  But, instead of posting them, I delete them.

Chick has never attempted to have a civil dialogue with me.  Yet, you say she is showing love, kindness, and caring?  Would you mind showing me an example of her love, kindness, and caring toward me.

Then, you tell Chick, "So even though you're not a Christian, you are a better Christian than a lot of people who profess to be."

She may be a good person to some.  But, if she is not a Christian believer -- there is no way she can be a "better Christian" than anyone.  If she declares she is not a Christian -- then, obviously she is not a Christian.  Do not confuse her good intentions toward you and those she chooses to befriend -- as Christian in any way.

Everyone in the world, regardless of their relationship with God -- is good to some people.  But, a Christian is called to "love your neighbor as yourself."   And, your neighbor is all people; not just the ones who agree with you.

Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew 5:43-47:

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'  But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and  persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?  Do not even the tax collectors do the same?  And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others?  Do not even the tax collectors do so?"

From our experience on the Religion Forum, it seems that Chick is nice to those who agree with her -- but, very caustic to anyone who disagrees with her.

Chick may not believe I am a Christian -- because I refuse to rewrite the Bible to make it fit unBiblical worldly lifestyles.  Keep in mind that the Bible is not to be adapted to society -- society is to be adapted to the Bible.

And, you may think I am not a good Christian because I refuse to share a "feel good" Gospel.  But, I am comfortable with my relationship with my Lord and Savior.  And, I am comfortable telling folks that the Bible teaches that there two eternal destinations -- and only two:  heaven and hell.

Every person has the "free will" to choose his/her own eternal home.  If a person chooses hell; then he/she is condemning himself/herself to hell.  Not me, not any other Christian, not God -- only that person can and must choose their own eternal home.   And, to tell anyone anything different from this -- is to betray them and God -- and is leading them toward the slippery slope.

I am sorry, O No, but in this post -- your have taken liberal social theology to its breaking point.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Hi Al,

Unfortunately, he did not -- for the teaching of annihilation is false.  When Jesus Christ died on the cross and then resurrected -- His resurrection assured that EVERY human will resurrect to eternal life.

And, that is where the hitch comes in -- there are only two eternal destinations:  heaven and hell.

Before death, every person MUST choose which will be his eternal home.  No one can make that decision for us.  We all MUST individually choose either heaven or hell.  And, no choice IS a choice; but, the wrong one.

If Hitchens breathed his last breath in his mortal body still denying God -- he has chosen to live in hell for eternity.  Some may scream and yell that I should not say that.  I am not saying it.  I am just repeating what God, in the Bible, tells us.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Well bill, repeat what your god said in the bible, just don't start doing the things your god did.

Bill, Semi already knows what the Bible says about Heaven and Hell. Just like I know that smoking is bad for me. But when people tell me I'm going to get cancer, it doesn't do one bit of good. I already KNOW smoking causes cancer. The way to get someone to quit smoking is not with scare tactics, no matter how true they are, but with kind and gentle support, suggestions about different methods to try, and when someone tries and fails, a little encouragement to try again.

I know that Semi is seeking answers to her questions, but although she may get the answers we give her in an intellectual way, the answer she needs is one that touches her heart. I believe that one day, God will put that answer in the mouth of someone, and then her beautiful heart will understand.

She HAS been caustic with you, but not with everyone who disagrees with her. I'm a good example of that. She knows I am a Christian, and that I pray for her. She takes no offense at that because I never tell her she is going to Hell. I tell her that I hope and pray that someday I can call her my sister in Christ, but that I won't abandon her if that doesn't happen right away. Because I do believe it WILL happen one day. And in the meantime, she is my friend whom I care about. And there's nothing wrong with that.

(Oh yeah, and Semi? Don't you love it when people are talking about you behind your back? Love you my friend.)

hahahahahahaha!

This is precisely the sort of tyrannical superstition that Hitch enjoined us to reject.  The hatred and bigotry of the religiously convinced is what retards the human condition.  Hitch would be proud of your condemnation, Ex, and could easily refute it.  As will I.

First, you assume that your opinion is correct.  As you well know, there is a compelling argument against every tenet you propose.  There is an overwhelmingly forceful argument against the essential point of Christianity, that we are born into sin and are offered salvation through the torture and death of an innocent man.  That point is that Original Sin is an obscene lie, and impossible in its nature.

There is no Hell.  Hell is a New Testament invention, and it therefor a matter of an Eastern Mediterranean conglomeration of disparate religious traditions, as is the entire effort.

Ex, your blustering of Hitch's current condition is so much blather.  It is awfully presumptuous of you to presume that you and you alone know what happens after anyone's death.  For shame.

The days of any respect for your superstition are over, just as the respect for Zeus and Wotan are gone.  The reasons are the same.  All the ancient gods have demonstrated their nonexistence, including yours.

Hitchens has now become the great defender of the faith, albeit too late. He has joined the rich man in hell as the great missionary that never was.

" In Adam All die" That is not a false statement. All over the worldtoday there are monuments erected to the truth of God. All your self delusional fantasy cannot change it. And one day reality will bite. Hitchens is dead, his blashemous tounge has been silenced forever, just as your will.

The days of your blustering and innaccuracies is what is over. Cry and whine all you want, you will not get the universe rearrainged to fit your warped sense of right or wrong. Repent or you will likewise perish.

Bill, you will never have an ounce of the love & kindness O No has, so don’t start preaching to her. Yes, tell me how many times you extended an olive branch to me, I would love to know. If you have, (which you haven’t) it probably had conditions. You probably added in some sarcastic remark or some kind of judgment along with it.

No, I don’t always show the kindness, caring, & love that the Bible says we should all be showing. O No has a soft spot for me because she knows more about me than anyone on this forum. She has shown me Christian love & kindness even at my worse. You call yourself a Christian but I’ve never seen you show it either. Words are cheap, Bill, even those of a “Christian” such as yourself, & you have an abundance of them. You have NEVER responded to me honestly & non-judgmental. I’m not stupid, I know what those little cunning remarks you make suggest without your coming right out & saying them.

I hear it every time you have condemned me. Something O No has never done, so don’t include her in your little charade.  I’m up front & open in where I’m going when I die, IF Hell exist. At least I’m not one of those people warming a church pew that will have the shock of their life when they end up in Hell.

What is it I’m refusing to hear? You, your beliefs, & your judgmental crap? You betcha! I don’t need YOU to tell me what the Bible says, I know what it says!

How can I deny something that I don’t know for a fact exist? Why should I accept “eternal life” as you call it? Why???  What has God done for me except show me exactly what He has thought of my faith & prayers? Throw me in His lake of fire if I don’t walk the line?

You’re really dumb if you don’t think someone can push a person away from Christianity. It’s done all the time, every day by you & many others. What business is it of yours if I condemn myself? For anyone to know the truth of the Bible, they would have to know the Bible to be real.

You may be in the Word of God intellectually -- but, the Word of God is not in you. Unfortunately you don’t have the heart, the love, & the compassion it takes to really know what the Bible means. You refuse to get it. You have no more than an intellectual knowledge of the Bible & you even get some of that wrong.

Where?  When? Have you ever said a civil word to me?

Love to be Friends with me? That’s rich! You’ve shown great restraint in responding to me? If that’s true, those things you’ve deleted must have been some nasty stuff.  No, I will never attempt to have a civil dialogue with you because you don’t know how to have one yourself.  And no, I will never show any love, kindness, & caring for you.  Would you mind showing me an example of your love, kindness, & caring toward me?
You compromise your Christian faith daily, Bill.

As much as it may surprise you, I am a good person to some. You would do well to think about your words “a Christian is called to love your neighbor as yourself.  And, your neighbor is all people; not just the ones who agree with you”. Most people on this forum catch Hell if we don’t agree with you.

And you would do well to think about Jesus Sermon on the Mount too. Your experience on the Religion Forum is wrong about me. I am very caustic to very few, mainly you, Gingee & Extra.

Chick definitely doesn’t believe you are a Christian, & you do rewrite the Bible every time you preach your OSAS. I don’t believe in a "feel good" Gospel, those are your words, not mine.  You keep right on being comfortable with your relationship with God, right up until you take that last breath.

I thought you & O No had reached a truce? Seems to me that went right out the door when you said she had taken her liberal social theology to its breaking point.

Sorry, folks, this was so long. I was on a roll.

Actually, Hitch isn't laughing at all. It's the demons in Hell laughing at him now. They laid a trap and decieved him into that awful place in spite of the best efforts of those who loved him.

You going to join him in ridding the world of this "ultimate wickedness"? When does the atheist train leave?

Can you translate that for me? I don't have an "insane rantings to English" dictionary.

You understand right well. The question has been put to you before, one you don't want to answer because it blows the legitimacy of your atheist beliefs out of the water.

If you ask me about a train I have forgotten. If you made sense I'd answer you. But all you're doing is posting off the wall crap. And I hate to break it to you, but the legitimacy of my atheist "beliefs" as you call them can't be "blown out of the water". So if you can put together a coherent post and tell me what train you're interested in I'll try to answer. Like I said, it's hard to converse with you since I don't have an "insane ramblings to English" dictionary.
