Up until this week I didn't think the Coronavirus would change how the 2020 election came out. I thought Trump would win regardless of wither he faced Biden or Sanders. Now I am not so sure. Today I hear Trump is thinking about sending checks to Americans during this time and that sounds like a liberal policy to me (moving toward a Universal Basic Income). I know there are both conservatives and liberals on these forums, and I would like to ask, if Trump goes through with these checks could get that enough conservatives to vote third party (or vote for the democrat if they came out against the checks) that the Democrat would win?

Our parents,"The Greatest Generation" could handle adversity as there lived through it.  Today most people are jaded and spoiled and can't cope with adversity well.  Fear and panic are easily enflamed by the unknown and today people don't save and prepare ahead for disasters so more live paycheck to paycheck.  Frankly it's seemed fairly easy to shut things down what concerns me is if they can start things up as easily.

We live in a fragile world with many things contingent upon another.  Many things shut down, I fear, won't open again, many who have lost jobs will not find the same job waiting for them so many will have further adjustments to make.  I'm thankful we have this happen when Trump is in control because the Democrats, I believe, would have been ill prepared to face it and the economy would not have been near as strong when it hit,.

I hope he's reelected because, I believe, if he is defeated due to the virus then its toll, on the Nation, will be truly great

Do you think Trump will be able to get business (especially locally owned) that have shut down due to the virus reopened when all this is over? If he manages to do that he can probably win by more than he did in 2016. People need their jobs.

I believe if anyone, in government, can it will be Trump.  That didn't answer your question though.  I frankly don't know because while I do believe Trump along with the experts he puts around him, can or could get most or more of those businesses (and way of life) back, I don't believe all of them will come back but many are destined to fail and never return.  Worse, when this is finally over, (whenever that is) Democrats and those who detest Trump, will fight him, tooth and nail, over whatever he wants to do because this is their ideal situation to threaten his re-election and political future.  I hope, my response, makes sense but in short, I believe Trump (if anyone) has the knowledge and ability to get things back on course but so much depends on Democrats and the media to affect the restoration of our Nation that they will use this event as a weapon to affect his re-election possibility.
