I don't agree with all of them, not Merle, Sara, Coe, Paycheck and not George. Kinda reminds me of the last time I was at the old Opry building, when someone made the statement, "Nothing but, sorry drunks who sang here". I just looked at the man and said, you know if it wasn't for those sorry drunks as you reply to, there would not be a Nashville, and you sure the heck wouldn't be standing where you are today. I could tell you a lot about George, Tanmmy, Peanut and some of the rest of the old good boys and girls who song their hearts out down on 16th Av. they had a hard life to live, it is the price you pay when your in that business.

Felt like I was reading a list of Rock Stars or something. But I think when country became more commercialized in the 50's and 60's the Nashville scene became like Hollywood south, with all kinds of off stage drama's as such. Mostly hidden from view except the gossip magazines and columns. These things would surface occasionally in songs. Waylon Jennings's "Are You Sure Hank Done it This Away."
Around 1989/90, my sister and I took a songwriters class from Earl Montgomery at Shoals Community College. That was when the building on highway 72, near the
Woodmont Drive intersection was open. I was around 15 years old then. I remember his wife was at every class too. It was actually pretty fun and neat that your post reminded me of that class.

I remember working a store comeing out of Town Creek -North on 101, when Peanut Montgomery was an "Ideal Bread" salesman, came danceing in with a grin on his face & said this was his last stop & wasn't working for Ideal Bread any more, told me he had just wrote a song & it was going to be a #1 hit, " 6 Days on The Road " Dave Dulley was going to sang it. lol i never saw him again
