One of the cornerstones of our democracy was religion freedom, not "Christian principals."

So you're saying Christian principles had no influence on the establishment of our country?
Why is "In God We Trust" on our money and why does every building in Washington DC have some reference to God? Call it what you may, I call it Religious Principles.

Yes, I'm saying Christian principals had no influence on the establishment of our democracy. Our founding fathers were very careful to not allow any mention of any specific religion in any of our founding documents.

"In got We Trust" was forced into our currency in the late 1950's during a "religious right" war against secularism during that time. Our founding fathers had nothing to do with it.

I had no idea that every building in Washington had "god" written all over them. Can you give me a reference for that statement?

By the way, why would you not stand on your principles and refuse to take an oath on the Bible? I think it would be hypocritical to do otherwise.

I agree. I am sometimes disappointed in myself for not making a stand but when you are asked to stand before a judge and swear an oath in front of a crowd of others the peer pressure is significant.

Which is the point: This is my country, too. I do not wish to be compelled by my government to bow to an imaginary friend.

So don't. Never ever compromise your principles for anyone. Eventhough I feel your thinking is flawed and incorrect in this instance, I respect your position and defend your right to such.

Based on the qoute "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." Arthur Schopenhauer - German philosopher (1788 - 1860)' Is it safe to say Christianity is in stage 2?

If religion was cancer, it would be stage four.

It is much more important than that.

That's what I'm trying to tell you Dim Wit.

I know what you are trying to do, but it doesn't make any sense. See, religions are all equally stupid and football is great.

The Bear is great. The Bear is good. Let us thank him for 6 National Championships!!!

Will, is it reasonable to accept or follow a religion without evidence?
