"God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve...Come worship with us" Seriously!! I couldn't believe the sign said that!!
Hi Jess,

I agree with you that this sign is very inappropriate. While I do not know this church; this sign does give me flashbacks of the Baptist pastor in Kansas who pickets even funerals with his "God hates ***s" sign. Although, I am sure that this church where you saw the sign is not that radical. I would imagine it is the work of an over zealous pastor or elder.

On the other hand, the Bible does say that homosexuality is a sin; and that folks living in an active homosexual lifestyle are in deep trouble with the Lord. Do I believe a pastor should specifically target homosexuals in his sermons? No, but if a pastor is teaching the Bible correctly -- starting with Genesis 1:1 and teaching through the Bible to Revelation 22:21 -- he will have to teach on the subject of homosexuality. In doing this expository teaching, he will at some point have to teach on Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:26, 1 Timothy 1:8-11, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. In teaching on these Scripture verses, the pastor has to teach what God tells us in those verses: That the homosexual lifestyle is an abomination, it is a detestable act, it is an unnatural act, and that a person who actively practices this lifestyle will not inherit the kingdom of God.

What should a church, a pastor, a Christian be saying to homosexuals? We should strongly say the last part of what your sign tells us: "Come worship with us!" But, we also have to tell our homosexual friends, "We do not condemn you for your lifestyle; but, please do not expect us to say that is is okay. For in the eyes of God; the homosexual lifestyle is not okay."

We should welcome all folks into our church, heterosexual or homosexual. However, a person living an active homosexual lifestyle can never be a pastor or in a leadership role in the church. Why, you may ask? Because a pastor and a church leader, elder, deacon, etc. -- must teach the Bible, the whole Bible, without skipping any verses. Can a homosexual teach the verses in Leviticus, Romans, 1 Timothy, 1 Corinthians as they are written in the Bible if he does not believe it himself? And, a church which does not teach the complete Bible is not teaching God's Word.

In the same vein, I believe that every Christian should be fighting to preserve Traditional Marriage -- One Man and One Woman in America. We should be doing everything in our power to see that same-sex marriages and other homosexual specific legislation are not passed into law. And, we should be demanding this of our elected officials; that they protect Traditional Marriage in America. How do we convince our elected officials? By our votes. We tell them, "You want same-sex marriage; fine. Go find another job; for we are voting you out of office. Keep your day job."

Just my thoughts.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
