my mother and i like to collect crazy sayings off church signs. i think we need to make a book.

one i saw today - 'heaven has no illegal aliens'. hmmm, is that talking about heaven's exclusivity, or acceptance policy?

how about, 'be ye fishers of men - you catch 'em and God will clean 'em'. now, if you've ever cleaned a fish, THAT is not a good mental image.... eeeeww.

and one i saw today on a shopping center called 'bypass square'. the add-a-letter sign below said 'bypass liquor'. store advertisement, or advice? ha!

i'm going to try to find my stash of really good ones. anyone else seen a good one lately?

~~ Trust no one. ~~

Hoss Gal - I have said the exact thing. I used to travel around the U.S. and saw so many crazy and some profound church messages...but I didn't take pics. I regret it to this day.

One of my favorites was actually a church in Hueytown, Al. Next to the church was a house where a psychic set up shop and put up a huge sign overshadowing the church's marquee that said "WE READ PALMS". As a counter move, the church put up the message: "WE READ PSALMS".
Enough said.

My favorite two are:

You'll never get ahead trying to get even.

Be careful what you say about your enemies; remember--you made them.

Worst two (either unscriptural or untrue in general)

If God is your co-pilot, you're in the wrong seat. (God never makes us be good--he gives us free choice.)

The next time you lose your temper, don't try to find it. (Temperance controls our anger--we need more, not less.)

You should try their faith fries with a charismatic cola. Then finish it all off with a fried presbyterian pie. Or if you're trying to cut calories, a salvation salad might just do the trick. Oh, and don't forget their awesome beatitude buiscuits for breakfast. Now that'll make a believer out of ya!!!

Btw, Ed@Bama, that was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Big Grin Big Grin
I just saw one today that made me chuckle in a "that's kinda retarded, but will stick in your mind, so it's having its intended effect" kinda way...

Friends don't let friends go to Hell.

(PS - If you go to this church or put up the letters on the sign, I'm not trying to pick at ya. Like I said, the sign is effective exactly because it is memorable.)
