Somewhere today, or most likely several somewheres, innocent people who trust their ministers were lied to about Creationism.  They were lied to about a 6000 year old Earth, Adam and Eve and Original Sin, dinosaurs walking among people, and Noah's Flood.

What have you done recently to challenge these obvious and harmful lies?

Lying ministers can still be christians, but that may not last very long.

Is that not, basically, what I said?

Maybe it is, a lying minister can very well be a christian.

A non believing minister isn't christian and many still have a church.

Maybe I'm splitting hairs here.

What is this harm of which you speak? Do innocent parishioners suddenly start bleeding from their ears? Are they blinded? Mass hysteria? Dogs and cats living together? What?

My dear Deep. The fact that many of your friends and neighbors choose to attend a house of worship and listen to Gospel preached does you or no one else harm. The US faces a myriad of threats as it always has and always will. With God's help we will endure. Be of good cheer!

By the way I have been going to Church most of my life and I have never heard about the dinosaurs walking with man. I gotta find one where that's taught and go hear what I'm missing out on.

My dear Red,

When the likes of Ken Ham or Kent Hovind tell innocent, well-meaning (yet innocent) Christians that they must either believe that dinosaurs walked with humans or risk Hell, on which side do you fall?  Do you simply say "that's their belief" or do you declare BS?

It matters.  Much of America is being led, by cruel and dishonest claims on its faith, to discount every scientific and reasonable premise about natural history.  We can't afford this.  Not only that, but it drives a wedge between imbeciles who vote and normally intelligent people.
Most studies show that about half the people don't believe in evolution.  This correlates with a normal bell curve of intelligence, if you know what I mean.

I'm glad that your church is not afflicted with the ravages of duplicitous fundamentalism.  My congratulations.  Some are not so lucky.

Deep

I'm not acquainted with either gentleman you mentioned. I would say that their belief is their business absurd as it may be. I know of no scripture ****ing people to hell for their position on dinosaurs.

Many people hold what I consider irrational beliefs: ghosts, the CIA killed JFK, and that another round of quantitative easing will pull our economy out of recession. Many of these people vote.

I believe in creation as have many Americans down through history and yet our country has survived and thrived. We will continue to do so.

I would say the dumbing down of the school system does more harm to our nation than religion. If someone is reading the Bible, at least they can read. We are graduating kids who have trouble reading a menu from McDonalds.

I have seen many imbeciles who vote; from all parties, all religions, all races and both sexes.

Imbeciles don't need any help in being stupid.
