If you're not familiar with Dale Jackson, he hosts a super conservative talk show/attack show on WVNN Athens/Huntsville.

He's gone pretty far before, but he may have overstepped some legal boundaries in his latest prank--focused on the Democratic candidate in a special election Tuesday.

I do think that if he is responsible than he did over step boundaries that shouldn't have and should be punished for it. If he did it while on the payroll of the station then the station should be responsible as well.

On the other hand, How stupid are the people that believed it. Everyone knows that elections are one day and always on a Tuesday. If they don't know this basic fact, they are to stupid to know who to vote for anyway.
I'm not sure how this will play out, but the "official" news release with a State of Alabama letterhead may have just gotten Mr. Jackson in some major trouble.

Dale has some good ideas. I follow his blog since I don't have time for his radio show. The major down side to this is he takes the word "attack" too literally.

FWIW, Matt Osborne refused to do Jackson's show. Jackson called him a coward. I think Mr. Osborne was using common sense. There's that work "attack" again.

Indeed, if there are REALLY people who believed this prank and didn't vote for the Democrat, then those folks' stupidity finally served a good purpose.
He also used used the Great Seal of Alabama, and that may be a felony -- in the UK it is a major felony (treason) to forge or misuse their Great Seal.

This is a "prank" akin to xeroxing $1000 bills and giving them away in pink ink.

The election part of it may cause the station to come under review by the FCC as well. I think a fat man with a beard has/is going to have some 'splaining to do.
I listen to Jackson occasionally. He comes off as a blithering idiot a lot which is too bad because I believe he's a smart guy. He goes off half ****ed without all the facts occasionally. He accused someone I know of coercing public employees to attend a political meeting which was very far from the truth. He has made some good points about the local media.
A poorly thought out stunt at the least. I suspect that it may result in his losing his job at the worst. This would not bother more than one of the local political class. Dale has some good ideas and I agree with him about 80% of the time but his acerbic wit is bound to alienate a lot of listeners. As far as the legality is concerned, what he did pales in comparison to the Panthers intimidation of voters in PA and they were not sentenced.

If anyone was fooled into not voting by this prank they have no business voting anyway. Since his "notice" was targeted at Democrat voters and if, as I suspect is the case, few Democrats listen to his show or view his website, the impact on the election was minimal. The impact on Dale's future may be more consequential.
