So what say you Rram? Was there racism before Darwin or not?

I think you know that many other people and things contributed to the rise of racism. I don't know why you want to lay it all at the feet of Darwin. Actually while looking into this subject I found that capitalism probably played a much bigger role in racism than did Darwin's theory of evolution ever could. Most people that thought of blacks as property or somehow inferior to whites were white christian plantation owners who would stop at nothing to make a dollar.
Jank

I can see where the untrained eye might see these laws as racist if you factor out the fear these slave owners had for slaves. Historically slaves were feared not as animals but because of their invention.

Take away all rights from a group of individuals and they become slaves .

The difference in Darwin and these laws?

Darwin made it a studied and believed science.

Slaves before scientific enlightenment were conquered property .

It would be interesting to view the world without a Darwin.

Would we be better or worse?

Lol. No one else was here but Native Americans and they took captives for slaves themselves.
Jank Dear,

Is this a debate where one side is declared the winner.

I thought we were inquiring as to what may be the truth.

Bjbg has taught you that your answers preclude anyone asking another question.

Now that is childish.

I have had two developments today in my assessment to understand you.

I’ll have to say this post pales when compared to the visit to the nursing home post.

I was floored and my head is spinning as I contemplate that one.

If you insist on being coached by billy bob I want back my jacket.
The truth....you can't handle the truth. *snicker*

Oh Rrama-lama-ding-dong,

You have to accept that these are my own thoughts and feelings. I am not coached by anyone. Don't you think that I would be much better at getting my point across if I had help? Smiler

Please don't make me choose. I love you both for different reasons. Big Grin
Y'all were having so much fun that I wasn't going to mention it, but now you've done gone all mushy...blech! patooey!...lol...

...racism is mentioned in the Bible - Samaritans, for one. Wink ...at least I think they were of a different race...at the very least they experienced prejudicial treatment because of the group they belonged to rather than who they were as individuals.
