Just a question, and I have no idea what the correct answer is. How many cops are killed in the line of duty each year and how many people do cops kill in the line of duty?

Hopefully far less than the criminal element they have to deal with. I laugh at the special talk the media is saying blacks have to have with their kids. In reality it does not have to be any different than the way I was taught. Rule number one comply with instructions, be polite, and even if you do not agree do not challenge or threaten the officer wait for court. Of course trying not to break the law helps. I hope body cameras become standard issue as they are more often used against the criminals and helps keep the 1% bad apple officers in check. Listen I agree there are bad officers and they should be dealt with but like ALL professions I do not judge all by the actions of the bad few.

Hi, I have wished for body cameras, and if an officer has trouble with his camera each time there is a complaint, check him out. 1% bad apples, maybe its that high. the bad apples will tend to seek each other out, and will make the whole bunch look bad. If a body camera would have been in use in Ferguson, it may not have changed the outcome, but the truth would be known.
When you're on the highway and pass or meet 500 trucks, then 1 drives bad, you are mad at the whole bunch. It's the same way with police.
Before it starts, I have never said all police are bad. I will say a small minority could do better.

The police are the ones that need to do better eh? The criminals can just keep going as they were. BS that blacks are afraid of the cops.
Best, you are amazing.
Jt most of the truth is know Brown was a criminal who attacked a Police officer in his car resulting in the officers gun being discharged. Browns actions that day caused his unfortunate death.
--------------
That's the polices story. Some of the witnesses told a different story. One side lied. The body camera would tell the truth. By the way, the police had at least one incident, on a phone camera, of wrong doing.

Go ahead, answer. What is the duty of the criminal?

What witness told a different story? His partner in crime? You do know those witnesses testified at the grand jury. I want someone to make me believe the officer just decided to execute an innocent man in front of witnesses. It's complete BS. All these killer cops doing this in plain site knowing their lives will be ruined, riots will follow, their families put in danger? How stupid are we supposed to be? IF they were such killer cops I think the street thugs and career criminals, known to all the cops, would just suddenly disappear.
It's taken society over two centuries to mold certain segments of society into what we are seeing expressed by them today. The youth are just products of pitiful conservative holy rollers.

This is what started this discussion. I haven't seen anyone's answer. I sure have got bad comments about me, not one posting of the number killed by policemen.

Well gee, bud gave you a link so you could search and find your own answers. You always accuse others of lying, then when they give you proof you act like you didn't see it. So why should anyone do your work for you? Click on bud's link and go to a re putable site. It's so easy a child could do it, so maybe even you can master the click!

QD, I would think liberal Democrats are to blame for keeping blacks on welfare and government housing. What would conservative Christians have to do with anything?
Black folks kill a lot more folks than police. Maybe they need body cameras.

Well then, search.
He doesn't understand how Google works.
He doesn't understand how Google works.
He's not interested in finding out either. He's the typical gimmethat, wanting cradle to grave care AND now someone to do his internet searches for him. If he doesn't like the results, he just says you're lying and/or being mean to him. Give him proof, he ignores it and moves to his next asinine post/thread.

Best, I'll bet that I paid enough taxes to provide part of the government services you have enjoyed.
I just thought some of the law and order bunch would know. If I can find it, I'll post it so you will know.
Best, I'll bet that I paid enough taxes to provide part of the government services you have enjoyed.

What government services do you claim I've "enjoyed" that MY taxes didn't pay for??
IS THIS ENOUGH FOR YOU PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE TO DO RESEARCH?
There is more than enough information here to satisfy those who demand numbers!

The number of persons shot by police is estimated at about 400 per year
http://fivethirtyeight.com/fea...lice-kill-each-year/
<<<Some reporting has put forward one of the only figures available: the approximately 400 “justifiable police homicides” each year since 2008,according to the FBI’s annual Supplementary Homicide Report (SHR). That data point has appeared with heavy caveats in a string of media reports, including in USA Today, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the Washington Post.
The statistic might seem solid at first glance. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Bureau of Justice Statistics — independently of the FBI — also estimate the number of police homicides per year at around 400.
But these estimates can be wrong. Efforts to keep track of “justifiable police homicides” are beset by systemic problems. “Nobody that knows anything about the SHR puts credence in the numbers that they call ‘justifiable homicides,’” when used as a proxy for police killings, said David Klinger, an associate professor of criminology and criminal justice at the University of Missouri who specializes in policing and the use of deadly force. And there’s no governmental effort at all to record the number of unjustifiable homicides by police.>>>

Just a question, and I have no idea what the correct answer is. How many cops are killed in the line of duty each year and how many people do cops kill in the line of duty?
This is what started this discussion. I haven't seen anyone's answer. I sure have got bad comments about me, not one posting of the number killed by policemen.

You whining because no one falls for your trap?
I gave you a source so that YOU could look up the answer to YOUR question. Are you computer illiterate or just lazy? Who did you get to do your homework for you?
And BTW, I'm not wasting my time looking up something you deem to be "correct."
Remember this?
You: The rest of you, I suppose you can keep backing the police, no matter what the evidence.
Me: I consider the testimony of the witnesses and the results of the autopsy to be evidence.
Still waiting on your reply as to what you consider evidence.

A movie recorded on a cell phone and the coroner called it a homicide.
Contendah, thank you, it sure is thorough. The rest of you can look too

The rest of us don't have to look, we know how to search.

You might know how to search, but I am the one who actually searched and provided the information others needed in order to discuss this topic knowledgeably. But if, in your stubbornness, you wish to re-invent the wheel, why go ahead!
According to Contenda's chart can you notice the balloon of cops killed around prohibition and then the drop off after the appeal of it?
Shouldn't that be something we should be studying about now?

I did notice that and meant to post something about it. Prohibition was rough on lawmen. I wonder how many of them were caused by backwoods still operators.

What the coroner actually said, "homicide but not murder". More of the left trying to push those fake news stories.
Homicide is the killing of one person by another. Murder is a form of criminal homicide, where the perpetrator intended to kill the other person, sometimes with premeditation Examples of excusable or justifiable homicide would be someone killing someone else as a means of self defense, or defending another person, or law enforcement who kills someone in the line of duty.
Let's read that again, shall we?

Too jt, if you saw the video you saw the criminal telling the cops how it was going to be, and that they were not going to arrest him. Then he was going to walk his *** away and go back to his criminal activities. I asked you before, are people allowed to tell the cops whether or not they will arrest them? Are they just allowed to walk away?

"IS THIS ENOUGH FOR YOU PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE TO DO RESEARCH?
There is more than enough information here to satisfy those who demand numbers!"
Actually, it doesn't come close.
Statistical analysis or crunching numbers does not begin to tell the story. There are lives behind the numbers. Plus an analysis of a single year does not even scratch the surface.
This link hits home. Doubtless, many of the forum readers will relate to this in ways only those who have served and family and friends can relate. My tour of duty was from February 1975 to July 2001. And it's personal. Very personal.

Well, Mr. Dismissive ("Actually, it doesn't come close"), now that you have provided info for ONE state, you can proceed to document the statistics for the remaining 49. I provided the numbers that other forum members asked for, so you need not be so snide and snotty about what I posted for the entire nation! They asked for numbers and I gave them the numbers. They did not ask me to provide fodder for those desiring to express personal sentiments.
And what is this cavil of yours regarding a "single year". Read what I posted. Multiple-year statistics in every category! Put your bifocals on and READ it, you fractious ingrate!

Name calling is something I don't indulge in. But if that's your best shot ... well then ... I am as you claim "dismissive."
Obviously you have trouble following through with research. So I'm here once again to fix it for you.
To begin with I gave a link to Alabama lives knowing that would be more relevant locally than national numbers. I refined JT's request. Numbers alone do not tell the story. JT obviously doesn't know enough about the subject to ask the right questions. And all you did was provide JT with something he is perfectly capable of doing himself. I did better than you. Anyone could.
Read carefully. On the link I provided, up in the blue bar, second from left, click on "Officers." Scroll down to "Browse By State" it will take you to this link. http://www.odmp.org/search/browse
If you were a mediocre researcher at a minimum you would have done what I did. What choice do I have ... does anyone have for that matter ... to be dismissive of your lack of effort to provide detail.
BTW, every single one of those names is better than you. Dogs excepted.

If they suspected him of illegal activity, just shoot him. It'd be a lot quicker, less straining. Oh, wait, they were NYC cops, no telling how many bystanders would have got shot.
oh snap, grandpappy..........Looks like Bud got your goat.
For the record the OP was not asking an "innocent" question. I am unclear of the intent, but as it has been stated, the information is easily googled.
I think by staying away from second part of the question you agree. At least subconsciously.

So in other words, as usual you have let your alligator mouth overload your hummingbird **** with your silly childish posts, and you don't have any answers. Try it. When you get stopped, tell the cop how it's going to be, then walk away or drive away. That should be fun for all.
