Here is an interesting article on joiing the ranks of the disabled.  I for one believe that disability is a necessary part of the government since those who cannot care for themselves need to be administered to by the government.  It is our duty to take care of the poor and infrim, however this is being taken to a whole new level, and a doctor in Alabama is being singled out as one of the primary offenders.  According to the records, 1 in 4 (that right 25%) of the people in this county(Hale) of Alabama are on the disabled dole.  Al one needs to meet the criteria is to have "back pain" and not to have graduated from high school.  This county is a Democrat stronghold, BTW.

Hillary in 2016?  Why not?  We've already had one "girly man" serving in office for the past 7 years, we might as well give her chance as well!

Not surprised. Had a neighbor down the street to ask to cut my grass for pay.  After he finished, he started telling my boyfriend about how he was on disability for his back. He did use a riding lawnmower, but he also used a weed-eater.   This is the same neighbor that a couple of years ago hauled off an old refrigerator for my brother.  But he's on disability for his back.  go figure.

People on disability that don't deserve to be there-another of the worst kept secrets in the country. Not only doctors helping the scammers, but an army of lawyers too. But what's the answer when people won't report them, or if they try to do that they can't get to the "right place", and then, if they manage to do that, the "officials" won't even investigate the complaint? It seems that once they get on disability that's it, end of story.

We have been fighting the system since last October in attempts to gain approval for a replacement powered rehab wheelchair for my paraplegic son. When you attempt to report fraud to Medicaid, it appears that it's very seldom investigated. It isn't a day that goes by when I don't wake up or hurting from a physically demanding day at work and to see those who abuse the system makes my blood boil.

i am on disability in Alabama. i had 12 years of medical records confirming my problem, and was approved almost immediately. i'm told that's quite rare, so i consider myself blessed....but when i worked as a paramedic, i had a patient once who said she was disabled. when i asked what her disability was, she said 'goodness that was back in 1982, i don't remember that long ago.'  i'd think most who are disabled would be reminded every morning when they tried to get out of bed...hg<><
