Hi Deep,

Jesus spent time driving out evil spirits, not exorcising witches. The spirits Jesus drove out of people were the demonic spirits, i.e., angels, who followed Satan when he rebelled against God.

Is Harry Potter bad for young children? YES!

Why? Because it glamorizes witches, witchcraft, and other New Age demons. No child should be allowed to read such tripe or see the movies. Just my opinion.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Bill Gray, have you ever read Harry Potter? I have and I can tell you that any child smart enough to read those books is smart enough to know the difference in fact and fiction. The Harry Potter story emphasizes the power of good over evil. In that way, it isn't that different from reading the Bible.

Good point, after all they are both works of fiction.
Doesn't matter what Bill Gray & I say or think. God (if you don't want to believe; sorry for your luck sister) hates witchcraft and idolators. I take offense at the remark smart kids read Harry Potter. My kid is smart, a 94 average is pretty good. I read everything before she does. I read Harry Potter (not my taste) it's not appropriate. Neither is Twilight or George Lopez or Shake it Up or many other things. If other parents want to allow these things OK but don't down me because I don't allow them.
Thanks, all.

We all see the trend. Our religious friends seem willing to believe in all sorts of superstitions. We atheists are much more unlikely to.

Perhaps P.Z. Myers is right. Atheism is part of a larger movement of rationalists, scientists, and skeptics who are beginning to insist on evidence for claims of knowledge at all costs. The time for patience with superstition is over.

Opie makes a point. The bible and Harry Potter are all works of fiction. The difference is, J.K. Rowling doesn't claim Harry Potter is not.

You seem to be a very repressive parent. Let's hope your kid goes away to college and has the blinders removed.

Don't be surprised if your kid rejects Christianity as an adult.

uhh slim, who is Harry Hotter?

-----------------------

buff,,,,,,,Harry Potter is someone who made a billionaire
out of a deserving english woman and brought hours of fun to an untold
number of people.

The part I like best is the thousands of people employed to produce the
books and movies, good for business. The stories are harmless.
