This is the story: I have a friend (grown woman, mid fifties) who met a man through another acquaintance. He was a "businessman" locally. He took her out to restaurants, to picnics, bought her stuff, took her around his friends, even went to her family functions. Then, the person who introduced them to start with let it drop that his "wife" was a real witch. HUH?!!!! They weren't even separated. He had kids, the whole thing.

I'm just wondering how in the world a person as savvy and smart as my friend is could miss the signs? Are there signs?
Many years ago, when I was in college the first time, I met a guy that was seemingly crazy for me. I liked his best friend--go figure. No, he wasn't married, but he wanted me to meet his mom. We had dinner with her and her boyfriend at the Tourway. I assumed she was a widow because he told me his dad was dead; actually they had divorced some time before. This was the only time I met either of them until...

The next summer I had a job with the city directory. I went into a small business where the boyfriend sat with his wife of many years. If he recognized me, he didn't let on. I left as soon as I could, wondering if my friend hadn't been afraid his mom's boyfriend's wife would have come into the restaurant and shot us all. You can never be too careful when it comes to deceitful men (and, yes, dog, women too).
Again, right you are.

This woman (the friend) is beautiful - tall, slender, blonde, looks like a model - wonderful nurse, funny, sweet. I've not seen the guy, but surely she can do better. The other one, well, not so good.

Maybe she was using the first one as "bait"?

At any rate, if you're over 35, I guess you have to be running with your eyes closed to not catch the signs. The younger girls have yet to learn that lesson, I guess.

LOTS of guys I work with dont wear a wedding ring. Some say its because of work, they might get it caught on something....???LOL anyway. And alot of girls and guys will be married and spend the night away from home. See, thats where as the wife, I would have figured something was up. If I am married, no reason for my husband to spend the night away from home unless its work and then there are tell tell signs.
