Judge Brett Kavanaugh's appointment and upcoming confirmation vote is as good an indication of just what kind of Senator that Doug Jones will be. All indications, to date, are that he will choose party loyalty and affiliation over the people of his district. Any Senator represents both people of his own party as well as people of the opposing party.
I truly believe that Doug Jones is Senator due to many Republican or Independent votes and that there is ample evidence out there to indicate that all charges against Judge Brett Kavanaugh are political rather than sincere. With all that's know about the man, it is evident that he is worthy of the appointment and totally qualified as well.
I believe though, sadly, that Doug Jones cares not for anything but what his party leaders say. I do not in any way believe he is his own man and determined to do what's in the best interest of Alabama but rather will, at least up until his reelection time, follow the complete wishes of Chuck Schumer and the Democratic leadership and will not challenge or buck them in any way. Come election time though you will hear advertisements and stories that he is willing to cross the aisle and willing to vote to support the people of Alabama, everything that, here to date, seems to be contradicted by his actual actions.
I could be wrong but this proposed appointment of Judge Brett Kavanaugh will be Doug Jone's greatest opportunity to prove he's not just a bought and paid for party loyalist but rather a true representative. Time will tell but I'm not optimistic about it.
