Washington D.C. — The United States Attorney’s Office has opened an investigation into the death of Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick. Sicknick died Thursday night after protesters on Capitol Hill became violent.

According to ABC6, the investigation is being conducted jointly between the FBI and the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, with cooperation from U.S. Capitol Police.

Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen said in a statement that the Department of Justice “will spare no resources in investigating and holding accountable those responsible.”

Meanwhile, Sicknick’s family is asking others to stop making his death a political issue. Unfortunately, few seem to be listening.

In a statement released by the family, they say that “many details regarding Wednesday’s events and the direct causes of Brian’s injuries remain unknown and our family asks the public and the press to respect our wishes in not making Brian’s passing a political issue.”

Capitol Police say that Sicknick did respond to Wednesday’s riots outside the Capitol but had returned to his office before collapsing.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Sources familiar with the incident believe that Sicknick’s death was driven by a medical condition.

Politicians, pundits & the media are disrespecting this hero by their lies….

Reports have surfaced online that he was attacked with a fire extinguisher or another item at the Capitol but those have not been confirmed.

Others are suggesting that Sicknick was beaten to death.

Sadly, while complete details on Sicknik’s death is not yet known, many are using his name for politics.

Author Don Winslow said this on Twitter:

“Police officer Brian Sicknick had his skull crushed in with a fire extinguisher trying to defend the U.S. Capitol from domestic terrorists incited by Trump, Ted Cruz & Josh Hawley. When you hear Republicans say “move on,” ask them to think about the last seconds of Brian’s life.”

In fact, politicians that have long called for the defunding of law enforcement and have never mentioned the death of another police officer, are unbelievably saddened by his death.

We hope they are genuine and they should be but it’s hard to take them serious when they were silent as multiple police officers were killed over the summer during riots including retired St, Louis Captain David Dorn.

Calling herself the worse nightmare of the NRA, Shannon Watts, said “there is no healing until there is accountability.”

PRO-POLICE COMPANY ISSUES STIRRING AD ABOUT FREEDOM

White House deputy press secretary Judd Deere commented on the incident:

“Anytime a member of law enforcement dies in the line of duty it is a solemn reminder to us all that they run toward danger to maintain peace,” Deere said. “The President and the entire Administration extend our prayers to Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick’s family as we all grieve the loss of this American hero.”

Vice President Mike Pence tweeted Friday afternoon, “Officer Sicknick is an American hero who gave his life defending our Capitol and this Nation will never forget or fail to honor the service and sacrifice of Officer Brian Sicknick.”

Lies are causing division and hypocrites are everywhere…….

Unlike many in the media and journalists that have all of a sudden taken an interest in the death of a law enforcement officer, we will not lie to you or make his death a political issue.

Lies from these nefarious and disingenuous individuals are indeed the definition of hypocrisy and division.

If Officer Sicknick was murdered, we will be the first to call for the ultimate punishment and if he died from a medical condition, as his family has suggested, we will tell you that.

But the liars won’t.

They will continue their hatred and lies. They will not apologize and they will continue their quest to further divide America and stoke anger among their followers.

What America needs at this very moment is truth.

But don’t look for that anytime soon.

OK...now who do we know that uses bear spray? Yep...antifa and blm!

While federal authorities are still investigating the death of US Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick during the Capitol riot, but one leading theory is that his death was caused by bear spray, Insider reports.

Sicknick died one day after the riot after collapsing in his office. Capitol Police said in a statement last month that he was "injured while physically engaging with protestors” during the incident.

Metropolitan Police Department Chief Robert J. Contee III said during a press conference last week that the investigation into Sicknick’s death remains ongoing, but investigators told CNN this week that the list of suspects have been narrowed down, and that the top theory is that he was fatally hit by the chemical irritant known as bear spray.

Video of the incident played during former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial shows some officers shouting during the attack that someone was using bear spray against them. Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, confirmed on Wednesday that Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman told him that "he had to breathe a lot of bear spray and tear gas and that he was nauseated" during the riot.

Another officer responding to the incident, Metropolitan Police Officer Christina Laury told WJLA in January that "by the time I got there, officers were already getting, you know, sprayed with whatever these individuals had, which I believe they had bear mace, which is literally used for bears.”

Brian Sicknick's mother questioned her son's cause of death, which was attributed to the Capitol Police officer being hit on the head with a fire extinguisher during the Jan. 6 riot.

Gladys Sicknick, 74, told the U.K.'s Daily Mail she did not know what killed her son, but suggested he might have died of a stroke.

"He wasn't hit on the head, no; we think he had a stroke," Gladys Sicknick said in a story published Monday. "But we don't know anything for sure. We'd love to know what happened."

Brian Sicknick, 42, died while on life support a day after demonstrators protesting the election results rioted at the Capitol.

The Daily Mail said Capitol Police had not confirmed Sicknick's official cause of death.

"Officer Brian D. Sicknick passed away due to injuries sustained while on duty," according a police statement.

"Officer Sicknick was responding to the riots on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol and was injured while physically engaging with protesters," police added. "He returned to his division office and collapsed. He was taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries."

On Jan. 8, The New York Times reported supporters of then-President Donald Trump "overpowered Mr Sicknick, 42, and struck him in the head with a fire extinguisher, according to two law enforcement officials. With a bloody gash in his head, Mr. Sicknick was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support."

The Daily Mail confirmed with D.C.'s Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services that Sicknick was not "rushed to hospital" and returned to his division department.

Sicknick's brother Ken spoke with ProPublica on Jan. 8 and said his brother had been in good spirits, and had texted him after returning to the department.

Ken Sicknick said his brother texted "last night and said, 'I got pepper-sprayed twice,'" but was in good shape.

Sicknick's father, Charles, 81, told Reuters on Jan. 8 the family had been told Brian Sicknick had a blood clot on his brain and suffered a stroke.

Authorities largely have been quiet about Sicknick's death.

President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden, along with his fellow police officers, attended Sicknick's memorial service in the Capitol rotunda. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
