The Cat Who Came For Christmas by Cleveland Amory is one of my favorite Christmas stories. I love Dickens Christmas Carol and The Grinch about as much.
I just got the book Christmas Shoes yesterday from the library. I haven't read it yet...but I love the song and I've seen the movie. Books are always 10 times better than movies...so I'm expecting it to be good. Anyone else read it? I also checked out Gabriel's Angel by Nora Roberts. It's another Christmas story. I'll let you know when I read this one.
My favorite to read to my children is "Snowmen at Christmas". It is so cute. It is about what Snowmen do for Christmas once everyone goes to sleep. It shows them having snowball fights and eating snowcones. It is cute and funny and the illustrations are wonderful! "Twas the Night Before Christmas" is always a favorite at my house on Christmas Eve.
Well, other than the obvious story of Christ's birth , I'll have to go with "Twas the Night Before Christmas" for the nostalgia of it all. Every year, I display the book that my Mother read to me when I was a little girl. It's a large Golden Book printed in 1972. I guess I was 4 years old when she started reading it to me and my sister.
I like "Skipping Christmas" by John Grisham. Also "A Cedar Cove Christmas" by Debbie Macomber. There are so many great children's books! I really like "The ALABAMA Night Before Christmas" by E J Sullivan.
I like The Night before Christmas with illustrations by Gyo Fujikawa: Link It brings back happy childhood memories. I always buy it for my friends' babies on their first Christmases.
A favorite of mine is actually a poem, entitled "A Cup of Christmas Tea" by Tom Hegg. I first heard him read it on Focus on the Family. I picked up the book and it comes out every Christmas and is a must read. Later he wrote "A Memory of Christmas Tea" which is also good.
