Most florence cops are lazy no good thrill seekers!!!And the reason i say this is because of an incident this last sat...we were involved in a hit and run incident.our car was parked in front of the house on the street legaly,it was hit around 2am but we didnt find out until 7am.we called the police asap.he arrived in around 30 mins ,which was no problem.when he got here he wasnt polite or very interested in anything.hardly asked any questions and wrote the report and was off.10 mins after he was gone ,i had figured out the model and color of the car with just a few parts the other car left on the ground.the lazy officer didnt attempt 2 even try and figure out who it was,he didnt drive around the block or up the street to see if it might be a car in the neighborhood or anything.anyway today i see the car that hit my car drive by, same car same color wrecked in front and everything.so i followed this car 2 where they lived and then called the police back.well they wouldnt do anything ,the officer didnt give us his name or number or anything.we had his last name but they said they could not find the report and said they have 7 days 2 file it...So what do you do ,i bet if it was a cops car or if he would have hurt someone they would be all over it.but they dont give a **** that the deductible for insurance comes out of our pocket.they just wanna bust teenagers with joints and get into a car chases and the **** that makes them look good!!.they dont want 2 do what they get paid for.alot of the florence cops are so fat andout of shape they couldnt run down an 80 year old man with bad hips.but if it made them look good they would.people need 2 speak up more and not let these corrupt *******s scare you into your holes with your tails tucked.and know i wouldnt do it in public because i like my freedom, but people should file more complaints and ask questions if they feel they have been wronged.and for you cop lovers that say you are just a person that must be doing illegal things or you wouldnt talk so bad about florences finest, you are wrong .and yes i know there are 50 million typos on here but i dont have time 2 correct them know.not illiterate just impatient

If you don't like the way the cops handled it, you can file a complaint with the department.

You'll get a lot more done by complaining to the appropriate people than you will by ranting on an anonymous forum.
First of all, chill out dude. Really. You gotta do that.

I had 2 wrecks last year in Florence. Neither time was I determined to be negligent. Once I was rear ended by an uninsured person that I cursed out before the cops got there. The other time an insured 80 year old man turned left in front of me the same day I mailed my first $500 car payment (that is a lot of money to me!!).

Both times FPD was on the scene in seconds and EXTREMELY professional and kind to all parties.

A FP officer moved to my area recently. I live in the country. He liked to drive his cruiser really fast on his way home. Like he didn't have a microwave or something??? Confused I called his boss (also a Florence Police Officer) - gave a little info - excluding my name. The boss was SUPER nice. My new neighbor cruises slowly on his way home now (maybe he bought a microwave?) and always waves and smiles.

I wave and smile back!

Those are my recent dealings with the FPD.
Okay, people, let me share a little secret with you all. First, every cop who works for any dept. is his/her own person. They have their own personalities. Which leads me to the next fact. Some cops are A-holes and some are true examples of what a cop is supposed to be. It just seems that "jsky" might have gotten a turd. I have some friends that work or have worked for Florence and they are great people. I also know people who have worked there that are complete jerks. This is also true of people I don't know. If you go and file some kind of complaint, there is a "slight" chance, the dept. will look out for itself and with nothing but your word to go on will do nothing about it. Good luck with your problem "jsky".
Oh, by the way i am "chilled out" .it's over and done with as far as im concerned.by the time the police do get a chance to "investigate" the other car it will either be fixed or gone .like i said my reason for the post was to just speak of my dissappointment with the fpd once again. On a forum like this you will have the people who either dislike cops or think they hung the moon.I think it makes for a good debate ...lol
Are you really telling me what i did and how i feel?wow....are you a jedi? first of all the title was to get attention the more attention the more people reply..i also have friends that work for the floerence police department.i bet you they would be the first ones to tell you that alot of the force is lazy and worthless. Its funny when other people try to tell you how you feel and what you mean..
I'll tell you what is funny!
Is to see yet another troll come on here bashing people.
Your little thread here was directed towards Florence Police Department. That means the entire department, and I seriously doubt that you have friends who work there that would agree with you, much less claim you. Diarrhea of the mouth is not a way to get anything done. Just like Sassy stated above, if you have a problem, file a complaint, go to their superior officers, take the necessary steps that are in place, don't take it upon your self. It minimizes your point & doesn't do your image or the point you are trying to make any good!

Not telling you nothing , just repeating what you said , and I dont care how you feel . Roll Eyes
I know how you think , thats enough for me .
This is funny!!!A troll ,oh i'm sorry im not a veteran times daily forum poster like yourself flotown.did i disrespect you?I grew up in a firefighter /police family .i will repeat myself once more, then i give up on you times daily forum nazis.the fact is i was unhappy with the service i was provided and spoke out about it.maybe you consider that bashing ,i dont really care .It was my opinion.Last time i checked i was entitled to that opinion.and you also have the right to whine about me whining.Maybe if i was happy with the service i was provided i would have posted that ,i doubt it ,but maybe. If you think im wrong ,then fine post something positive about the florence police department or give us one of your positive expieriences.
Have any of you ever noticed when the FPD has a drug raid they have been working on for "months", they seem to only find a gram or two of weed, crack, meth or coke? That has always sounded fishy to me. Do they take the rest of it or did the dealers have "advance" notice of the raid from an insider? This seems to be true with the Laudedale Co. Sheriffs Department also.

Kind of makes you wonder, who really is on the take? Somethings dirty somewhere, a crack house does not empty all its inventory for nothing.

All members of FPD & LCSD are not what they seem.... There will always be "bad apples"

Wow, dude. For someone that is chilled out (you did say you were over it) you really need to take a pill. You come on here and claim to state your opinion and are asking for feedback -- you are getting feedback -- it's just not he warm-fuzzy let's all bash the cops feedback that you were hoping for...you are entitled to your opinion as everyone else is theirs...

It just seems that everyone else thinks you are the idiot in this case and not the FPD --

I agree with AdamRyan -- if your neighbors saw it happen and didn't do anything about like you know, call the cops themselves at 2am -- I wouldn't consider them a good neighbor.

I agree with Sassy -- if you have a complaint -- file it with the FPD -- ranting on this forum won't do you much good toward getting your car fixed. I do hope you have insurance on your car -- otherwise, if you don't complain to the FPD and get them to do something you are up a creek.

As for as experiences with the FPD -- I have had some good and some not so good. There was only one or two bad ones -- and given the officers that were involved -- I know they are not as top-notch as some of the others so I took it with a grain of salt and called my buddies that work with them and got my situations handled a little better. They didn't catch the guy that broke into my house and they haven't recovered any of my stuff, but then again, I gave up looking at the Pawn Shops myself -- so who's fault is that?

I did have a funny/sad thing happen though -- a few months after my break-in a lady from teh PD calls and says "you had a .38 Taurus Revolver stolen?" I said, "yes, ma'am." SHe said, "Well we were just wondering if you had recovered it?" Um, duh, the officer told me it would show up on a traffic stop or a shooting or something else...but I was supposed to have just "found it" miraculously...

Other than that, I think the FPD is getting better...especially since Williford is gone...

i wont cop bash here or anywhere else, cops have a hard job and sooner or later tend to become jaded, only seeing people at thier worst tends to do that i think, twice i was arrested for crimes and when court came around i just displayed the video of me at work during the times the crime was commited, a law officer molested my daughter, here in florence i have called 911 on one occation and the police never showed up, then when i asked what happened the produced a report that says the spoke to me in my driveway... that never happened, also here in florence police weere called because some creepy guy was following my son and the operator was more intrested in why he wasnt in school than where he was at to send help! hey he is homeschooled for one secondly school was out that day anyway, and what does that have to do with checking on a childs safety?
anyway i have more than enough reason to not like the police but i understand they are still the ones to call if you need help. for the people who hate cops... think how you would behave if you had to put up with people like you. also realize that for every jerk cop there are 20 good ones just so long as you dont hate on them before dealing with them, sassy is so very right, if you have a problem with an officer of the law take it up with his/her superior they are motivated to keep relations good. if you dont get satisfaction that way then chances are you are in the wrong. also for the love of pete dont complain beacuse you got a speeding ticket, dont speed! and dont hate cops because they busted you smoking weed at the park, blame your parents for noty teaching you better
The Florence Police Department and its officers are a credit to policing everywhere. I am not a personal friend to any of the men and women of this professional organization, but I have had interaction with a number of them when there was serious crime afoot and their performance was excellent and very professional. I commend Florence city leaders for the level of excellence they maintain. Their considerations for public safety and service to their city's citizens should be a source of pride...to all.
I agree with "Sassy Kims" file a complaint if you have a problem, I just hate it when people starts whining about how officers mistreats others, be a man or woman enough to confront them with an offical signed complaint, not just a verbal or a forum complaint. Every officer has the right to be confronted by their accusers.
The thing is, in any job or profession, there are some who are more professional, harder workers, etc, than others. I don't think it is fair to paint all members of the FPD with the same brush because of a bad experience with one officer. After all, they truly do risk their lives every shift they work to protect us, that is no small thing.
I understand your frustration about your car, maybe try reporting it again, maybe you would get a different result speaking to a different person?
An about your coment on the "forum nazis", well I got my feelings hurt when I last posted, I got off but decided to give it another try and grow a thicker skin. Some people are just very blunt and strong in their opinions, which we all have the right to have . Smiler
There sure are a lot of cry babies in here. If you don't like or understand the way the laws are enforced get off the couch and either
1. File a complaint (but only if you have a valid conplaint, not just a gripe)
2. Put in an application, get trained and be a better officer
3. Educate yourself on the laws of this state and city

I support everyone that has to put up with the general public. From teachers to law enforcement to medical professionals because they do what most of you would not AND they have to put up with people like some of you. Try walking in their shoes for a day.
To help you. If no one saw the accident you cannot say who drove the vehicle. It is impossible to prosecute a vehicle. A civil recourse could be to sue the owner's insurance. Unlikely with a 5 hour time lapse. If the police were called in a "reasonable time" frame and located the car nearby the chances go up. Sorry you had a bad experience but don't be so blatantly rude about people you do not know.
Most of the people who come on this forum to whine and gripe about law enforcement officers, could never in a million years actuallly be a LEO. I have suggested that they consider signing up for a "ride along" with a member of their local PD and see how their officers approach policing (Protecting and Serving citizens). Most of these people would be gone the first time they work a traffic accident where the driver's body is in the front seat and his head is in the back floor board.

Oh no, I'm actually agreeing with you.

What does this even say? "if your neighbors saw it happen and didn't do anything about like you know, call the cops themselves at 2am -- I wouldn't consider them a good neighbor" Maybe you need 1 more pill of whatever you are on.I never asked for anyones feedback ,it's just a given i would get it posting on a forum.Did you even read the original post? ,or anyone else that says i should file a complaint. If you did you saw where i said more people should file more complaints... because that is what i did.And yes i dont have the best neighbors ,is that my fault? If you think i am an idiot that is your opinion also..i'm sure alot of people think you are too..i will admit i was a little frustrated with the situation and might have used some words that were not 2 eveyones liking but i will not apologize for it..this is a forum where people discuss things and state opinions.

Did you ever ask the lady why she was calling or did she tell you why?? I'm sure you were not randomly selected. And, I'm sure some people recover their stolen items and fail to notify law enforcement like they are instructed to do by the officer when items are stolen. Sounds more to me like she was doing her job and just following up with you about your unfortunate incident. Give her and her department a little credit.
