Before I get bashed for starting this forum, I want to say that I am always glad when we have good Christian men and women teaching and coaching our children. Having said that, I think that having a "Football Camp for Jesus" that is mandatory and a school function is wrong. Have a football camp, be a good Christian, but dont call it a "Football Camp for Jesus". If this is allowed to take place, it will open the door for say in the future that one of the schools should have a Muslim coach. Say this coach wants to have a "Football Camp for Mohammed" that is mandatory. Say he gives all the kids a prayer rug and a Koran to read. Whats the difference? There is a separation between church and state for a reason.

The difference is, this is The United States Of America not some muslim country, YET !!!! But with peple like you it wont take long. Mad

Just the opposite.... that is my point. Muslims are trying to take over the world. If we can have "Football Camp for Jesus" they can have "Football Camp for Mohammed".... I don't want that to happen. Have you ever checked to see how many muslims live in America. So when you say, we are America not some muslim country, you need to check your numbers. I agree that we are still mostly Christian, but don't close your eyes... We already have a Muslim president who is sympathic to the Muslim countries... where do you think that will lead?

Do you want your children to be forced to attend a school function that does on follow along with their religious beliefs? However we are not allowed to "offend" anyone in this country any longer so that opens alot of doors. I am looking at the bigger picture.

That is the point I am trying to make.... I'm not against Christians. I am a Christian. But we cannot force what we believe on anyone else, just like we don't want it to be forced on us. In muslim countries people are forced to believe in Islam, they don't have a choice. We do. Besides, there a lot of different Christian beliefs. Is it okay for anyone to force your child to listen to what their personal beliefs are? All I am saying is that it is fine to have the camp, just don't make it mandatory and don't do it as a school function or it will open the doors for any and every religion to do the same.

I'm speaking for myself and my beliefs. Do as you wish.

And just for the record, I agree with you about "illegals" coming to this country and our teachers having to teach their language to our english speaking children. If you are going to come to America, do it legally and learn the language.

Exactly, you are speaking for yourself and your beliefs... you are given that right because you live in a free country. But would you want someone to force you to be a Christian or have certain beliefs as a Christian?

The coach told them to "be there". That sounds manatory to me. And you certainly have the right to send your children if the opportunity presented itself. However, you should not be "forced" to send your children, should you?

Ditto. Is there a PUBLKIC school that is doing this? If so, then it's everyone's business. If it's a private school, then it's none of our business.

In answer to your question, it was Muscle Shoals High School. There was an article after the fact in Times Daily with photos of "Football Camp for Jesus".

So what gives?

Since you are a Christian, I'll talk to you Christian to Christian.

Your view makes sense if I ignore the high cost of removing anything Christian from our schools and removing anything Christian from our government and eventually removing anything Christian from our country.

It's not an easy question and there are no easy answers.

I understand that belief in God should not be forced. I also understand that our country has been blessed as well as placed under an umbrella of protection because of that belief in God.

What will be the cost of removing God from schools, government and eventually this country? Will the cost be worth it? Will the umbrella of protection and the blessings stop? Will my children and grandchildren pay for the complacency of myself and my generation? We seriously need to think this thing all the way through.

Again, that is spoken Christian to Christian. It will make sense to Joe, but possibly not to someone who does not believe. Smiler

Joy, I totally agree with your comments. I don't have the answers either. When I was in school, we did pray, we had Christmas plays. I loved it and still do. I hate to see what is happening to this country. Like you said, we cannot force our beliefs on anyone. We don't not want other peoples befiefs forced on us or our children. I don't want my children or grandchildren to go to school one day and be "forced" to study the Koran or pray 5 times a day on a prayer rug. However if we allow school sponsered activities to become religiously based we are setting a precedent for all other religions to do the same.
